I do it as often as time allows, the tank holds 3x more volume than the minimum recommended for the puffer and the plants help so I don’t feel too guilty.
I just wondered if anyone could advise any treatment to aid healing.

Re: F8 Eye Problem Help Please
Nitrate can be up to 50 out of the tap. Water changes are around 50% a fortnight usually, weekly sometimes. I don’t physically stir the substrate because it’s planted but i wave over it to stir detritus into the water column, the MTS will be turning the substrate over sufficiently to avoid hydrogen ...

Re: New Tank - possible figure of 8
Unfortunately your tank is a little small, you should be looking at a minimum of 60l for a singleton the only difference to keeping freshwater tanks is that you add a little marine salt, I keep my tank at approx. SG1.003@ 25DegC. An aragonite substrate should be considered to maintain carbonate hard...

Re: Preparing for first DPs: quarantining multiple before planted display tank, aggression
A quarantine tank is always a good idea just to have around and you could place egg crate style dividers in to allow the water to circulate between each compartment and keep the fish separated. Initially though if the entire tank does come down with something meaning that the whole tank needs to be ...

Re: Preparing for first DPs: quarantining multiple before planted display tank, aggression
It seems like you could just about fit 1 male and 2 females in if you don’t have too much water displacing decor. If there aren’t any other fish in the aqaurium then why do you have to quarantine? I’d place them all in the main tank once cycled and if any do need quarantine in the future then you ca...

Re: PH Levels Fluctuate
is it 7.6 after a water change and 8.2 beforehand? If so your substrate choice is buffering the water to alkaline which makes sense for an African Cichlid substrate.

Re: F8 acting very strange
Great news! FIsh can suffer with taking in oxygen if they eat too much, it usually results in them resting and panting heavily but I bet that it’s not beyond the reaches of probability that they could get themselves into trouble if the water gets real warm in the summer months and it can’t hold as m...

Mine never have, some say that theirs have put holes in Java Fern but the theory is that they think the spores on the underside are snails. Mine never touched my Java Ferns and i do have Java Fern it just doesn’t grow very well for me.

Re: F8 substrat!
Yes i know but is aragonite good for plants? Aragonite shouldn't affect specialist hard water plants, in fact hard water plants, like Vallis, may even use the carbonate released from it. As long as your water-change water isn't too acidic - which it shouldn't be if keeping Figure 8's - then the san...
