Re: Overfeeding Puffers
We threw in a dozen ghost shrimp almost a week ago and most are still there. Turns out the little buggers are so fast it takes a while for our three puffs to catch them. Watching the hunt is pretty awesome and sometimes we sit for a good couple hours at a time watching and cheering the puffers on. T...

Re: What's your puffer's name?
Our three GSPs are Chubby, Jimmy, and Bruce. I tend to call Chubby "Chubbiness" or "Mister Chubby", Jimmy becomes "Jimmy Wimmy", and Bruce becomes "my little Bruciness" :D Ours, shockingly, came from Wal-Mart as well. Would NEVER buy fish there, but my husband...

Re: cloudy swollen eye?!?!
Thanks! We did a water change earlier. I was just checking back for replies because the eye has gotten worse. Any place that would have the meds will be closed before we can get there, so I'll have to get that in the morning.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

cloudy swollen eye?!?!
Our three puffers are settling down nicely. The overeater from yesterday is returning to his normal energetic personality. The new problem is one of them has a cloudy and somewhat swollen eye. What could cause that overnight? None of the puffers have been aggressive toward each other and were purcha...

Re: Dog Faced Puffer with white spots.
I figured as much. I've been reading about the differences in salt. Our LFS has always told us that aquarium salt is fine, but I'm reading different here. I guess we have everything down-pat for our cichlids, but this brackish tank is a learning experience.
Re: Dark GSP?
Update: Water is still cloudy, but fish seem to be feeling better. Bruce, who seemed the worst, looks a little more perky. He's had a pretty constant trail of poop and his belly is slowly shrinking. It seems that he really may have overeaten. After talking to my husband I found out that he dropped a...

Re: Dog Faced Puffer with white spots.
Not sure if this will help, but we had some issues with ich in our new tanks. Ich Away was cheap and worked really well. Also, raising the salt level and temp a bit helps with ich. However, this worked with our cichlids. I'm not sure about puffers, but raising the water temp and adding salt is well-...
Dark GSP?
All three of our new GSPs have gone dark as of this morning. We are new to puffers but not fish. Also, one is now swimming upside down and has a very swollen belly. He's the only one that's been eating, too. Has he overeaten? pH, ammonia, and salt are all perfect. We've been testing twice a day sinc...
