Re: Puffer with discus, can it be done?

Actually... I got from a big LFS around here, the teeth/beaks were really big and the puffers couldnt eat properly, so I read up on trimming their teeth and did that - now they are much calmer and dont just speed from one end to the other, they also spend more time swimming together, as apposed to b...

Re: Puffer with discus, can it be done?

I purchased 2 SAP puffers, so far they are doing well... One question I had is - one of the puffers, and sometimes both are swimming from one end to another end (6') back and forth, alongside the front glass(not up and down just back and forth), what would this type of behaviour usually indicate?

Re: Puffer with discus, can it be done?

Most of the snails are MTS.
My tank temp is 83-84 due to it being a planted tank. discus do just fine in lower 80s. Its a community tank, I have many other fish in there, so 83-84 is the highest temp will get, its even abit lower than that at night.

Re: Puffer with discus, can it be done?

I would definitely not keep puffers with discuses. One thing is the aggression of the puffer. The other thing is that few if any puffers like the temperature of the water the discuses should live in. Discuses should have 29-30 degrees celcius, and that's too hot for many other fishes, including puf...

Re: Puffer with discus, can it be done?

autochanging is easy - you basically have to plumb your canisters or sump so that you have it going into the sewer, with 1 or 2 solenoids that are timed with a sprinkler controller - open solenoids every day or every several hours or every couple of days for x amount of minutes - depending how big t...

Puffer with discus, can it be done?

I have a large tank 240g that houses discus and other community fish, its a heavily planted tank with an auto water change system set up. Unfortunately I have a bit of a snail problem - the obvious solution would be snail eating fish. I could get a few loaches, but I really enjoy puffers. I did have...
