Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

The cloudiness is entirely gone! I'm assuming the meds temporarily screwed something up in there. I'll do the normal cleaning on Sat. but for now, everything's fine. :)

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

The meds were pinkish. I dissolved them first (like it said on the package) and then poured them in. I don't have plants in there yet. I can't do a wc today because I have too much homework and classes after lunch. I'll wait and see what happens until tomorrow when I have time.

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

I treated the whole tank two days ago and now my tank is cloudy...? I don't know what would have caused that other than the meds. Can I do anything other than a water change (don't have time today) or is this just really temporary?

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

Btw, would it be a good idea to treat the entire 55g? Just to make sure there's nothing left in there?

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

Thanks guys. I'm going to bury her with my two bettas, Juju and Kissyboots. Thanks for your support. :) I probably won't get a new puffer because I don't wan to use the divider anymore. I'm going to plant my tank as soon as I get everything I need. If you want to see it later, I'll post pics and inf...

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

She died.

I would have had her for a year on the 24th and it's partly my fault that she didn't live longer. Thank you for all your help and support. I guess I was just too late in treating her.

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

I don't think she's going to make it...she's not coming to the surface anymore and seems to not be able to swim straight. She keeps twirling counter-clockwise. She's puffed up at least three times. She's always lying sideways. I feel like I should euthanize her because she seems so stressed out. I'v...

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

Ok, so I should be doing a 50% wc every day, dosing for 5g every day, and putting in a tbsp. of epsom salt every day, right? How long do I need to keep that up?

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

When I redose with the meds, should I use a dose to replace the changed water, or a dose for the entire 5g bucket? (Didn't get a clear answer last time :))

And she just did it again; I'm uploading the video now.

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

the stringy stuff could be purged worms, it sort of sound like a swim bladder issue to with the whole swimming oddly and upside down. not sure though, never had a fish with a swim bladder issue, only seen them in stores. i hope she makes it. If it's a swim bladder thing, wouldn't she be somewhat bl...

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

She could be doing that because she's stressed. She could also be acting weird because the meds are working and the worms are dying. Do you have melafix on hand? After the worm treatment you may need to treat with melafix to prevent a secondary infection. If you don't have any, get some and keep it...

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

Update: She swam around a lot just now and I noticed that she keeps running into walls...that's not normal. Is she blind or just weak? She also just puffed for for two seconds (she's never done that before.)

Re: Help! Not eating and thin!

1. Start your own thread, don't hijack. :)

2. I don't think DPs should be kept with other fish because they can become aggressive.

3. I don't think you should leave them without food for a week. You could have someone feed them 4-5 times that week, but definitely don't leave them unfed for 7 days.
