Re: Tetraodon erythrotaenia
I wanted to revive this post as I recently found some info on them. I was randomly flipping through Dr.Burgess's Atlas of Marine Aquarium Fishes (3rd edition) and came across these guys correctly named and with an accurate photograph! Amazingly, they were listed at full saltwater salinity. Not any o...

Re: For those who can not find Finquel
Most good LFS's should be able to order it for you as well. I don't see many places that stock it, but most will be happy to do a special order.

Re: What do you feed your fahaka
I don't see anything wrong with the occasional feeder as long as it's been raised by YOU so that you know it's safe and won't transmit anything bad. And obviously it must be nutritionally appropriate- the fish can't be a goldfish and the fish getting the snack should be a piscivore. It's also a very...

Re: Tetraodon erythrotaenia
Yay! I do work at Skipton's in Boston, and we had a nice chat the other day. I do hope you get those puffers! I'll try to get some photos of the guys I brought home, the light over the tank is busted right now tho, so I can't really get a good one. Turns out these guys are even sweeter than I though...

Re: Tetraodon erythrotaenia
Oh, sorry! I've forgotten all about this page. Well, there were 10 shipped in...and all 10 are still in the store, so I've been able to hang out with them a lot :P. They're like little puppies! Very sweet and expressive, well, for a puffer. They are actually not particularly aggressive. They live in...

Tetraodon erythrotaenia
Just wanted to share my tidbits of info, since the LFS I work at got a bunch of these guys in stock. Firstly, the wholesaler listed them as "Ninja Puffers". Since this is a pretty big fish supplier, I'd imagine other people will be seeing "Ninja Puffers" around. Secondly, they do...

Re: Carinotetraodon somphongsi
The lortetis seem to be an easily confused species. The store I work at got some of these in last week (I kept two females) and they were listed under *brackish fish* (they are 100% freshwater!) as "Red Belly Puffers". They are very sexually dimorphic though- so it should be easy for you t...

Re: Breeding c. lorteti
Hehe- sounds like a lorteti to me! Well, I'll be sure to report back in if I get any results. What were your water parameters? Did you notice breeding behavior after water changes and that sort of thing?

Breeding c. lorteti
Well, I've managed to acquire two female lortetis! I'll be sure to get some photos of them soon, so be added to the species profile. Right now they are living by themselves in a heavily planted 29G tank. They are under an inch long and were *very* skinny when I got them. Thankfully it wasn't an IP, ...

That's one intelligent fish! Although since she's not in the wild she'll be poisoning herself with ammonia. Still, gotta respect her!

Re: Irrubesco with salivator?
The dry season is the best time when fish are wild caught, as it's easier to do when the water's lower. It *ends* in October, which means now is the time you should be finding fish for sale.

Re: Irrubesco with salivator?
The dry season in southeast asia lasts through october, and dry season is the best time to catch fish and therefore export them to your LFS. Now is the time when you should be seeing them in stores. However, if you wait too long, you may not be able to find any until spring.

They're gorgeous. Do you know if they have problems with their teeth growing too long?

Re: FW F8?
My LFS can order puffers through latin names...hopefully at least one of your suppliers offers that. On the other hand, all of the red eyes are interesting fish, and would well suited for the tank. I'm partial towards lorteti's as that's what I have, but they're all quite cool fish. It probably woul...

Hehe- but now I have to follow up on pufferpunk's comment!
Really? Good to know. I always assumed it would be better to have two females and a male.
