Re: Floor Load For Tank

No way to know for sure. Even a structural engineer couldn't answer that without taking the floor apart to do tests. I have my 75g in my bedroom on an upper floor and so far so good...

Re: GSPs and other tank mates???

I kept a lawnmower blenny with two GSP's and they paid absolutely no attention to him. I took him out, (not enough algae to eat) and am going to be trying a snowflake moray with my puffs next.

Re: OMG My Tank Broke!!!

That sucks too. Salt water makes it even worse. My whole bedroom smelled like the ocean for awhile, it's gone now though. 8)

Re: OMG My Tank Broke!!!

Shop-Vac was essential in clean-up! I had a friend come over with his and I used mine so we cleaned it pretty well. Still took days for the carpet to completely dry out. I then shampooed it and now it's fine. Never had a Wrasse in my intake but I have found clownfish in my overflow, and a banggai......

OMG My Tank Broke!!!

About a month ago I was doing some work in my bedroom where my puffer tank is located. I had some furniture moved and left the room for a minute. I then heard a crash and yelling, my one year old daughter had pulled a bed frame I had propped against the wall and smashed my 55g GSP tank. Fortun...

Re: what other fish have you kept with GSP's?

Rigth now, my GSP's are living with a sailfin blenny (lawnmower blenny). The blenny cleans up after the puffers and they seem to pay no attention to the blenny at all. I'm going to add a dwarf golden moray... when I get the funds 8)

Re: GSPs, live rock, odl reef tank etc.

You could just slowly acclimate the puffer to full salt so you don't kill everything on your rock. I saw Nick post that he took GSP's to full salt in I think an hour. No guarantee he won't eat/nibble everything else in the tank. Snails will definitely be eaten as well as shrimp. Could you trade in y...

Re: Hair Algae

Just an update, I have a 108W T5 on my puffer tank, one bulb actinic, one bulb 10000K. There are no corals in the tank, just some LR and a couple of chubby GSP's. Btw, can I put a lawnmower blennie in with my GSP's? Once the algae is gone I could move him to my reef tank if there were aggression iss...

Re: Hair Algae

Right now phosphate and nitrate read 0. I'm suspicious, the article Myaj posted said that the algae could lock up these nutrients and give a false 0. So what should I do, the algae is on my live rock, should I pull the rock out and scrub it, do a big WC and wait and see? Should I leave the lights of...

Re: Hair Algae

My substrate is the gravel I added when the tank was FW/low end brackish. I'll test phosphates and nitrates. My light cycle is 9:30AM to 8:00PM. I just wonder if I'm feeding too often. I still feed every day and my puffers are now 3" and 3.5". I'm feeding mysis, bloodworms, snails and the ...

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

What size was it when you moved it into full marine? --Pillow 2.5", Blanket 3" Did the fish survive? --Yes, both did fine. How long was it/is it in full marine? --Been at 1.017 for 5 months, 1.024 for 1 month How large did it grow, and how fast? --They have each grown a 1/2" Did you n...

Hair Algae

My puffers have been at full marine (1.024) for a month now. I'm skimming, have live rock and use RO water and I seem to be infested with hair algae. What can I do to try and get rid of this algae? Will it die back after the tank has been at this SG for a little while?
