Re: Fahaka Puffer for sale/trade.
Gravel can help give the tiny babies places to hide if overcrowding is an issue. But if you just use a bunch of pbv tubing stacked like mini crayfish hotels, as well as driftwood and hiding spots, then I've found it easier to keep a bare bottom tank. You can see the babies easier when syphoning duri...

Re: Fahaka Puffer for sale/trade.
Right now, its only a 20 gallon. Plan was to convert my 65 gallon to the main crayfish breeding tank. Very simple setup of tank, lid, light, heater, sponge filter, some driftwood and cut lengths of pvc tubes for "caves". As the marbled crays are self cloning, they're all females and every ...

Fahaka Puffer for sale/trade.
First of all, I'm located in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. So this is for Canadians in my area, not interested in shipping. Looking to rehome my roughly 7" Fahaka puffer. Very healthy, aggressive and active. Feeds on ramshorn snails, marbled crays, clams, worms, other snails, the odd guppy and froze...

Puffer wanted!
Wondering if by chance there's anyone on here from Toronto, Canada area looking to sell a freshwater puffer? Or any US friends willing to ship perhaps? I'm specifically looking for an Abei, but would also be interested in a Palembang, Congo, perhaps a trio of Red Eyes... As long as their mid sized a...

water parameters for Fahaka.
I just got a bigger tank to upgrade my rescued Fahaka. Until now I've relied on water from a friends place, but with the bigger tank I need to find another water source. I'm on well water with a water softener and my parameters right from the tap are: ammonia 0.25. Nitrate 0. Nitrite 0. PH about 8.0...

Re: PUFFER ID!
May I ask where you purchased your Abei? I'm just east of Toronto, and would be interested if there's a store out there that stocks other puffers...

Re: PUFFER ID!
I'll second the idea that that's an Abei you've got there. You'll quickly discover that they are very good at colour changing... My Abei has looked like all of those pics at different times since I've had him... The Bruce is absolutely right, the colouring seems to depend a lot on a variety of thing...

Re: Abei acting weird...
My tank is more than fully cycled and can't imagine that would be the problem. It's been running for about 8 months and the Abei has been in there for 6, with no problems. Regarding the Ammonia... The colouring is not quite a perfect match with the zero, that's the only reason I said 0-.25... It cou...

Abei acting weird...
OK, it's been 3 days now and I figure it's about time to see if anyone on here can help me. My Abei puffer is a very active little devil, always swimming around, feeding on frozen shrimp, mussels, snails. The past 2 or 3 days, he's been really sluggish and hides most of the time. Comes out for feedi...

Congo Puffer
Looking for anyone who's currently keeping a Congo Puffer to help me out here... I may be able to get one, but wanna make sure I'll have the tank set up properly for him. I know about a sand substrate, but would you suggest lots of rocks over live plants? Any other info would be great too! I haven't...

Re: Please help... I want a puffer!!
Geez, I've seen them a few times already. It's not that they come in regularly, but they're frequent enough that I wouldn't call them rare... maybe we've just been lucky over here? *Shrug* PUFFERS ALL THE WAY. really? what part of Ontario are you in? I'm in Toronto and haven't seen one of these bad...

Re: Monotrete Abei
Abei's should be kept as a single specimen for sure... A friend ended up with two in a heavily planted 65 gallon tank and less than 36 hours later, one was dead... They are definitely one of the most aggressive freshwater puffers available!

Re: Entries needed for July POTM!
I have my puffer pic up on another forum site and I'm trailing the voting at the moment, so I'd really like another shot to win here! C'mon people! What is some of us submitted a second picture? Would that work?
