Re: Euthanasia
I've never had a vet put my pet or any animal down... It's better done quick and done yourself. I know many people disagree, but that's the way I was raised. It's part of the responsibility you take when you take on a pet. Even with fish I've had, with out the details, I think it's more humanely don...

Re: January POTM
Well if I say I brought a homely girl home from the bar, that generally means she was plus sized. I assume cocopuffs' puffers are quite round...suvattii2012 wrote:CoCoPuffs wrote:I have homely puffers....

Re: ideas for a 10gal?
I would stay away from a reef tank that small unless you already have a good bit of experience with them. Even a couple clowns is pushing it IMHO. I do think a heavily planted tank with inverts or a few small fish (tetras) would be cool. One of my favorite tanks I've had was a planted 20long with a ...

Re: Cultivating Puffer Food
Be sure if you try the shrimp to quarantine and gut load them first. It is never a good idea to add things from the LFS to an established tank.

Re: Feeding emerald crab to figure 8s
Though I only had a GSP, I would suggest removing the claws before trying. I fed fiddlers and that was the only option for small puffers. Of course PP is smarter than me, so probably go with that

Re: protein skimmer
Like PP said, Backpac makes good HOB skimmers. You might also look into the Aqua C Remora skimmers.
If you kind find one with an upgraded pump, that would be best. Last time I checked they came with Rio pumps which aren't bad, but have definite room for improvement.

Re: MH Ballasts Question
Both T5 and MH can grow coral. The fun part is that the differences in the lighting grows coral differently. mostly color related...
I prefer T5 since they use less energy and don't make so much heat.... and I couldn't afford MH anyway
