Overstocked?
Would it be possible to keep 3 DPs in a 5.5 gallon tank with 50% water changes weekly? It's way overfiltered, and there are plenty of hiding places. I want to plant it, but for now there are only fake plants in the tank. I carefully monitor my puffers during feeding time, and remove uneaten food fro...

Re: dwarf puffer/kill ??
When moving puffers from one tank to another, try to keep them submerged. Net the puffer and then scoop the net into a cup of water without ever taking the fish out of the water. Like, hold the cup in the tank, and put the net into it...
They're more likly to puff (and die) if exposed to air.

Tank size for F8s
Is it possible for a F8 to be kept in a 10 gallon tank? I know that 15 gallons is generally the minimum, but why so big? Is it just that they're messy or does a fish this small need that much room to swim? If they really can't be kept in a 10g without being cramped, then I'll have to wait to get a b...

Re: Just got my first DPs!!
They're only about 1/2 inch right now. I'm not sure if they're male or female, but I'll definatly check out that article. :)
I'm hatching brine shrimp tomorrow, so hopefully they'll eat that until they'll take the bloodworms.

Ya, I wasn't sure which they were. I thought I might be able to tell once they were a little older maybe... For now I'll just go with what you said, CtHM.

Re: Just got my first DPs!!
Here's some pics of the little ones! I tried the bloodworms again, and they seemed more interested, but they still didn't eat them. They pecked at them, but spit them right back out. I'll just keep trying... Is it okay to feed them brine shrimp? http://pichostonline.com/u/080101/cb55115eff.jpg http:...

Re: Adventures with Fiddler Crabs
They sure are escape artists! Several weeks ago my fiddler, Nelson, was in a small bowl on my kitchen table (this was only temporary), while I used him as a subject for an art project. I'd left the room, only to return when I heard someone yelling from the kitchen. The little guy had escaped, and wa...

Re: Just got my first DPs!!
Ok, I'll try the bloodworms again tonight. I read in the pufferpedia that DPs sometime eat ghost shrimp... Has anyone had luck with that? They seem too small to be able to eat ghost shrimp...
Yes, it was cycled and I'm using a filter that's been on my 28g for several months.

Just got my first DPs!!
I just brought home my first dwarf puffers yesterday!! I was totally excited to finally find a store that had them in stock. I read on this forum that Petsmart generally carries them, so I called them up and they said they had plenty. I bought 2 for my 5.5 gal, and so far they're getting along great...
