Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
Nick, your probably right that the SG was too low. I couln't raise it w/o stressing the DP's. Not to worry, the F8 they are gone.... :( Gone to the LFS and they have all sorts of hospital tanks they tell us! Mgr said it looked like ich w/some fungal infection. He said they should be fine. I'm hoping...

Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
The temp before we put the heater in (yesterday evening), i'm fraid to say, please don't kill us, was 67.8f. I've slowly raised it and it's 75.5 so far this afternoon. Will continue to raise. Have to decide on BW or FW setup or both. I think wife is leaning toward existing 16g tank as FW, keeping th...

Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
Our LFS said DP are brackish way back when we bought them. They are even in the brackish section of the store (aquarium adventure, schaumburg, il). I called them today and the guy was a little more knowledgeable and said they were FW but can be acclimated to BW. Anyhow thats how we got here. And the...

Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
ok I did the salt w/ IO. Were at 1.003. Will have to buy a heater, thermometer, and air pump today to do 1/2 the thing you mentioned. She's got the temp to probably house temperature around 69-71 so that's probably stressing them also. Another aquarium we really don't have space for in the house so ...

Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
I was wrong about the F8. According to the wife he sits like that when he's hungry. They all ate and are still all swimming around. If I add salt wouln't that stress the DP's? Is there a salinity I should shoot for? We have a refractometer, instant ocean, and some "aquarium" salt. Do I sti...

http://home.comcast.net/~lorenzana_j/DSC_0157.JPG http://home.comcast.net/~lorenzana_j/DSC_0158.JPG Couln't find Melafix & Pimafix at the LFS but got Maracyn (erythromycin) and Maroxy. Gave their first dose (of each) at about 2pm. Doesn't look good. Did I mention both F8 had this fugual/ich on ...

Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
The plant food sticks: Root Tab -> http://www.aquamania.co.uk/product.asp?numRecordPosition=4&P_ID=1821&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=115 ingredients shows 3-1-1: Nitrogen-Phosphate-Potash plus Iron. I allways thought this was instant nitrate in a tablet. Looki...

Re: Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
I double checked the scale. I should have been more clear, after all the water changes the nitrates are 0.1 and nitrate is 2ppm. I will edit the post... She lost only 1 dwarf early on and i think it at the time her nitrate was around 30-40ppm or the other 3 were picking on him too much. Now with thi...

Sick F8, need help diagnosing (with pics)
My wife loves puffers but isn't the greatest caregiver. She has 3 dwarfs and 2 figure eights and a bunch of plants in a 16gal tank. I know the dwarfs are freshwater and the f8 are brackish. She just slapps some aquarium salt in but I do marine and am meticulous with water parameters. Anyhow I just m...
