Re: I had...
Are you sure they're not being sucked up into your filter tubing? 100%. any stray current causing them to jump like that? I have never had a guppy jump... Hey JP! Been a while eh? I don't remember. It was too long ago. I'm pretty sure I had one of my standby Aquaclear 30s on there. Other than that ...

Re: I had...
This is long since dead but there have been some new developments... Apparently I had lost 4 guppies. While it's true that I lost them, it's safe to say that I have found them. I'm doing a complete rebuild of my setups and moved some wires and three dried bodies fell to the floor. There's a shrivele...

What's the dark thing in the bottom right corner? Is that another puffer?

Re: Lost a DP today :(
yes... they are hard to find they are so tiny. It looks like this 1 guy got caught behind the net trying to get at a snail. I have seen them do that before, but i have never seen them actually get wedged in there tight enough. Guess you weren't listening during my mourning while in chat... siphon i...

I had...
I had 4 male guppies in a 15 long last night that I fed before I went to bed. I didn't check on them this morning, but I did this afternoon and now there are none. Where did they go? Why did they go? How do I find them? Why do fish seemingly randomly disappear for me? My first clown pleco did it. On...

Re: Sump project?
That is a ton of information. I will need a couple more read throughs. I can't believe how many different ways there are. I think I may need to experiment with heating larger pieces to bend them into shape and "weld" them into place, rather than silicone. Looks like I was on the right path...

Re: Sump project?
Thanks RTR. CPR overflows are exactly the design I was looking for. Unfortunately the price isn't exactly for the frugal-at-heart. From my understanding of the process (in order to maintain the siphon in event of a power outage), the overflow box allows water to enter at a predetermined depth (say 2...

Sump project?
As you've noticed, I've started posting again which can only mean one thing; summer is over and winter is coming. Given that indoor weather is currently upon me, a new slate of projects (albeit smaller than last year's failed biggie) awaits. A couple have already taken shape and are progressing well...

Re: DP's 10 gal question
To full enjoy the active, curious and adventurous nature of the dwarf puffer, they need more than a jail cell. There is only so much complexity you can have in such a limited space for such an active fish. If we were talking Dario Dario or Bumble Bee Goby, then a properly decorated 10g would suffice...

Re: DP's 10 gal question
2 is fine... You could get away with 3, just have a lot of plants and caves. I had 3 DP's in my 10 gal and there was little to no agression between them. The only agression in my tank was the male DP chasing my platy around a little bit. I can fit multiple shirts on one hanger if I really want to. ...

Re: DP's 10 gal question
My personal opinionis that a 10 is too small for 2 of them, let alone 3. Try a 15 long or a 20 long if you want 3 dwarves. With those sizes you can also add a few ottos and both you and t he fish will be much, much happier with the setup.

It takes adult size into account. Try stocking a dozen shrimp and a Fahaka in a 30 gallon and see what it says.

Re: I saw her!!!
That would be a reverse puff I think. It's amazing how these things can seemingly disappear and reappear. Glad you didn't "hug" her too hard though. And glad you got to see her again finally.

AqAdvisor (another calculator)
In a brief search I didn't a find a link to this on TPF, so I thought I'd post it. This site basically calculates your stocking level, compatibility and filtration for 917 different species of aquatic animal. This could be potentially useful to those new to the hobby or for use as a general guidelin...
