Mekong, I already have the S&S and a Trigger in a 100 gallon tank I was wondering if I upgrade to say a 200-300 gallon tank if I can add a dogface.

All that food is what is killing their water!!!! Fish the food out ASAP. Leave them alone with only enough food for one day...you tank and filter system cannot handle ANY leftovers in the tank...your water will go bad very quickly. I think it is important to resist the urge to stuff a tank full or to buy every fish you like. They are not puppies who love to live in crowded piles of friends. They are not reflections of our own emtional states...so if you feel bored or lonely do not project it onto your fish...they probally are ...

Wearing metal gloves that butchers use to prevent their sharp knives from cutting them should me okay. Forceps can be very long and I have enjoyed using them with no chance of getting hurt as my hand is not in the water or close to the surface.

I think hand feeing is okay.. when he gets bigger it may or may not be important to use forceps or wear metal butchers gloves.

He sounds very happy. Yea, my fahaka used to nap like that and my stars and stripes does that too. Big meals to make for a slower fish.. just like people. Hungar makes them very active.

Cowardly is a rather judgmental or maybe ironic word to use about a fish in captivity....but good to hear you liked watching them sniff each other butts

I could be wrong but it sounds more like he was bit by his tankmate during feeding. My figure eights often had differnt shapes after differnt meals. The circles and their color are common with bites.
