Normal Behavior of a GSP

I was talking with my LFS about a couple GSP's they had. They told me that they were using aquarium salt for their GSP. I took a look at the GSP they had and it didnt look too well, but wasn't sure. The bottom of it was really dark isntead of the normal white color that I often see. Is this a sign o...

FW = 1.000

When buying the hydrometer make sure it starts at 1.000 since it is a pain to make measurements otherwise.

Yeah I know but I didnt want to lose any more fish. One of my puffers is growing like crazy. He has to be nearly two inches already and I felt like even a little salt is better than none. He is probably only a month out of the LFS. Plus he seems to be laying around on the bottom the past couple days...

Yippee, yay, I Got some salt today

I was finally able to get some sea salt today. Unfortunately I still had to use the "marine" hydrometer that starts at 1.012 . I took a gallon of water and measured it at a salinity of about 1.017 (didnt want to go too high incase the hydrometer is off) . It took just over a cup of sea sal...

Need help with hydrometer

I finally got my hydrometer in the mail today and am going down to buy some sea salt. After looking at the dydromter I realized I don't know how to use the thing. It sure sounded easier when everyone said that FW is 1.000 and make small increments at .002. My hydrometer doesnt have a 1.000 line, so ...

The tank is fully cycled. It has been up for at least a month, but more like two or three. I cycled it by using gravel from another tank, half water from another tank and two cyclids from that tank. I also used some bottled cycling stuff that helps. Dont remeber the name, but it wasnt instant cycle....

small puffer died. :(

I was checking the water and feeding my puffers when I noticed that one of them wasn't doing to well. He was floating on bottom and not moving at all. Sadly enough I think he is dead. The water measured ok 0 ammonia 0 nitrates 7.8 PH 80 temp (don't have central air :( ) I have some aquarium salt in ...

New puffer owner with some questions

I recently purchased a GSP at walmart (he looked so cool swiimming around in the tank that I couldnt resist) and was planning on putting him in my 55 gallon with 2 severums, 2 irr sharks, rubber pleco, gold fish, snails, and clams. After some research online I soon found out that these are brackish ...
