Re: Figure 8 pacing up and down glass

The 3 bumble bee gobi's are so much more active in brackish water, they even try to steal food from the F8's now, so maybe it suits them much better. Heh my BBG's have been in brackish since I got them, but they hid for about a week after the F8 went in the tank. they still drop the worm they are e...

Re: Figure 8 pacing up and down glass

i'd wait it out -- he should chill out after a while -- but with a 30 gal tank, i would also be tempted to add another fig 8 -- with that much space to cruise they should be able to avoid each other if need be -- bottom line, his pacing should get better with time -- they have been though a lot -- ...

Re: Figure 8 pacing up and down glass

I bought a background and and will put it on tonight. I am not sure about the lighting - it came with some packaged deal at the LFS. It has twin 36" tubes that say they are "daylight", but I don't see a wattage printed on them. I could take out one of the tubes. I have the lights on a...

Figure 8 pacing up and down glass

I posted this in an existing thread but now started a new one to hopefully get some more responses. I have had my figure 8 puffer for 2 weeks and he does nothing but pace up and down the glass. I usually have to chase him away from his spot on the glass with my hand before he will notice I dropped f...

Re: snail breeding update -- SUCCESS !

tranceFusion, what kind of snails do you have in there? The smudges on the front pane looks kind of like MTS. If so, we suggest not feeding puffers with them, as their shells are a bit too hard and may chip the puffer's teeth. nah, they are pond snails.. like a football shape with a tiny point on t...

Re: snail breeding update -- SUCCESS !

You could keep ghost shrimp in there. I keep them in mine until I feed them to my puffers. I have had 3 ghost shrimp in with my fig 8 since I got him a few weeks ago.. he hasn't eaten them yet. I don't know if they are too big or what, but I haven't heard of that stopping anyone else's puffers. He ...

Re: new figure 8 with torn up fins

Ok, I have added much decor. Most of it I added today, though he is still pacing. Hopefully he will settle down soon. Does it seem setup ok now? Also, I was thinking about adding some of those habitrail tubes like I heard some people do.. but I am not real sure how to lay them out, or if they will d...

Re: snail breeding update -- SUCCESS !

ok! I have my puffer pantry setup now :) I set it up like 5 days ago and it really seems like I went from 6 snails to about 20. I haven't seen any eggs yet, but there's definitely baby snails crawlin around. I don't know how the heck they grow so fast. I have had the light on except when I am sleepi...

Re: new figure 8 with torn up fins

Thanks for the feedback guys. I like your tank, CoreyK. I have been wanting to add decor but every time I go to the store I just can't bring myself to spend more money on fake stuff. I feel like my tank really looks like crap right now and I don't know what to do to change it. I had tried a few othe...

Re: new figure 8 with torn up fins

This guy is still doing quite a bit of pacing!! and to my dismay, there are still 3 ghost shrimp in the tank! If he notices me, he definitely comes to the front of the tank, but it seems like sometimes he is so busy pacing that he doesn't notice me until I tap on the glass or something. He does eat ...

Re: snail breeding update -- SUCCESS !

I actually got a ton of snails without trying. I use my dwarf frog's 10 gallon to hold snails when I find them unil they're ready to feed. I must have missed a few, cause I went down one morning and there were 20-30 crawling around! Now it's a supply tank. I was going to get a dwarf frog but was af...

Re: snail breeding update -- SUCCESS !

Will the snails eat the plants? What frozen should I be feeding the help keep their teeth down? Will krill help? I don't really have a concept of how big of an issue the overgrown teeth thing is.

Re: snail breeding update -- SUCCESS !

I have been wanting to look into doing a FW planted nano for a while.. is it possible to setup like a 10g planted tank with a couple small fish and do the snail breeding in there? will conditions be right to breed enough snails? I don't really have a concept of how many snails a fig 8 will need to e...
