Re: Dwarf Puffers

Alright thanks guys... I'm pretty sure you're right Myaj, about them considering all puffers brackish, because when I mentioned them the girl didn't seem to understand the concept of freshwater puffer fish. That pet store was back in my hometown (about an hour away) and I'm at my dorm now, so I'll c...

Re: Dwarf Puffers

That's what I said to the girl, she told me their provider sells brackish water dwarf puffers only. I'm fairly certain we were talking about the same type of fish considering she told me they were only about $2.99.

Dwarf Puffers

I went to my LFS today, and I started asking about dwarf puffers. They told me that they could order them for me... but that dwarf puffers are not freshwater, they're brackish. All the information on this site and people talking on this site seems to say that they prefer a freshwater environment. It...

Re: Are my other fish definitely infected?

I don't think it will be too hard to maintain... there's about 2 inches of fish in a 10 gallon tank, pretty boring right now ><

Are my other fish definitely infected?

I was curious, is it possible that despite the fact that one of my fish had ich, that my other fish remain uninfected? The GSP I had ended up dying = ( (I believe from Ich or Gill flukes, whichever disease he was actually suffering from and not because the tank was not a suitable home). So is there ...

Re: Parasite Medication

Its the same GSP I've mentioned before, in the improper tank but still nothing I can do (the pet stores have all refused to take him). I woke up this morning to find my Red Dwarf Guorami dead, despite not really noticing anything wrong with him beforehand (he had been acting a little strange, but no...

Re: Parasite Medication

Not having much luck identifying whatever is wrong with my fish... gill flukes is my next guess. Is there a common medication that contains or an easy way of attaining potassium pemanganate? (also, if anyone knows a better treatment, please tell).

Parasite Medication

I was curious as to whether anyone has had any success using the "Parasite Clear" Tank Buddies medication. I know there were a few other, probably more reliable medications, mentioned in other topics (Levamisole, Mestronidazole, and GelTek) but this one was the most easily attainable for m...

Re: 10 Gallon Tank

So, in other words, they're there for people like me = ). I should probably stick to the KISS ( keep it simple, stupid) method then, and just try myself with DP's before I move to anything too difficult. From what I was seeing, people group the DP's with otos generally. Do these two tend to get alon...

Re: 10 Gallon Tank

Hmm I'll definitely keep that one in mind too.

It sounds like these minimum tank sizes are something that you can push a little bit, then?

Re: GSP- help

Thank you for the advice... I'm afraid that now that you mention it and I read the article more thoroughy, it makes sense that the tank is not properly cycled and I only wish I had read the cycling article before getting fish/ removing the ammonia. We emptied and cleaned the tank before I brought it...

Re: GSP- help

I think he's going to be alright if I make sure the water stays clean and I can get him into a better tank soon. I was happy to see he just ate his first ghost shrimp and he's looking a lot livelier = )

Re: GSP- help

Trying really hard to get him back to a pet store, as I'm simply not going to be able to provide what he needs. The water changes are definitely helping... I guess I'm literally just going to have to do between 50-75% water changes daily. Does anyone know if the GSP's color will return if he's prope...

Re: GSP- help

Sorry for the large amount of posts in such a short amount of time, I feel really bad for this guy and I'm trying to do everything I can. I guess I'm just going to change the water even more frequently. Is changing the water too often also bad?
