Re: New Puffer added to tank - few questions

So good to see someone who filters the tank as necessary for puffers... so many people do not understand the need for this!! As for the IPs.... is he showing any symptoms at all? I like yourself am very anti-meds if advisable but IPs can be a serious issue. Do you know how long the store you got him...

Re: Okay, Now I'm REALLY worried....

Do you know what your kh is... the kh buffers your pH... it is doubtful that it is low but it is worth a shot in this sort of scenario where weare clutching at straws... otherwise I'm in agreement about water changes!

Re: How do you move a tank?

It is surprisingly easy!! I've done it with over 30 tanks before... I had to move out for a month and then move back again!!! Basically keep the filter running as long as possible.... the bacteria that live in it require oxygen to live (and that is provided in the water running over it) and when you...

Re: Building an Mbu Tank

I couldn't agree with you more about the need for enrichment especially with the very intelligent fish like puffers and bettas. My bettas for example play with ping pong balls and love them!! The need for adding more decor is certainly there in reference to the tank in the article found on PFK's web...

Re: He has arrived - New Fahaka

I can't believe how tiny he is... he's gorgeous!
Any names yet??
Krill or mysis is also fairly high in protein and not that fatty so if he'll gobble those it might help him but some weight on as I have to admit he is a little skinny.
Where did you get him from?

Re: Building an Mbu Tank

I'm hunting on the internet at the moment as I read an article on Practical Fishkeeping's (magazine in UK) website about a guy who did kinda this..... the article would be increidbly useful as he talked a lot about his filtration and so on. I'm doing searches right now for you. Another option. Get s...

Re: Selling my Fahaka

I'd sell one at that size at work for between £60 and £80 at least depending on general colourations and health and so on.
I'd take him if I could but I think Blinky would be far too jealous!!

Re: Fahaka not eating

What test kit are you using as it is almost impossible to have 0 nitrAtes!?!?! Myaj is right about the ammonia so once that is diluted through lots of water changes then we will be able to get to the bottom of it. Make sure your filter stays on 24 hours a day 7 days a week if possible. MOST filters ...

Re: Where does your puffer sleep?

My MBU sleeps under part of one of the bits of planted bogwood in his tank right by my bed so we can see each other (?!?!) he used to sleep in amongst some precious stones and actually used one of them as a pillow.... cutest thing ever!! If only I could have made him a little duvet!! Blinky definite...
