Re: Cyanobacteria... Ugh

Well, I hope that will take care of it. Cyanobacteria is a permanent battle for me for over a year... Before you start messing with phosphate buffers and nitrates, read this thread. It turned out to be a disaster for me! http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11446&st=0&...

Re: HELP!! FIGURE 8 FULLY INFLATED!!

The red marking, could it be a heater burn? Maybe he got burned, got startled, started inflating close to the top of the aquarium, therefor inhaled air in the process. I think when they inhale air they can't expulse it by their own. You burping it would have gotten rid of the air and then he must ha...

Re: cynaobacteria bacteria problem

Tried the black-out... worked at first, not anymore... I think I bred a dark resistant strand! And I do have a phosphate buffer, problem is my water already has 0,25 phosphate, so I realised that I'd need tons of it to get the phosphate out of the clean water and then control the phosphate from the ...

Re: Two Dwarf Puffers in Same Tank

Like Myaj said, even if you have a male and a female, they might still fight. Is your tank big enough, something like 10G? Also making sure the way you aquascape your tank in a way that the eyeline is broken and that each puffer have a couple of places to hide from the other will help. Find another ...

Re: Fin rot on DP?

I have an aquaclear 30 filter in a 15G.... The water flow is quite strong and the plants are always in movement... I think I managed to grow a flow resistant - dark resistant- nitrogen lover strand of cyanobacterias!! (I tried the black out for a week... worked at first and now barely does a thing!)

Re: cynaobacteria bacteria problem

I know this thread has not been active for a while, but I thought I'd share my experience with this Redfield ratio... My algae problem didn't go away and I couldn't get rid of it, even after puting the fish in a new tank with the old filter. They probably traveled with the filter and colonized the n...

Re: Fin rot on DP?

Well, it got worst before it got better! A couple of days after my last post I saw Borneo's tail was growing back (yeah!). And then the otos that had been hiding a lot lately started coming out... with terrible looking tails! All 5 of them had ragged tails! So I did a WC and decided to rinse my filt...

Re: I Need Dwarf Puffer Help!!

How long have had Bob? When I first got my Dps, it took a week for them to accept my food. Like Myaj said, otherwise tey'd be hunting down their own food. Now I tweezer feed them and they love mussels, bloodworms are ok and scallop and shrimp are ok. They also love snails, and don't worry about the ...

Re: DP's

I recommand you get pieces of wood high enough to cut the tank in 2 sections so it makes 2 territories. I would only keep the 2 DPs in the 7G. Adding other fish, IMO, would be too much bioload. 7G is already just enough for the 2 DPs. Also, otos are schooling fish that should be in groups of 5 minim...

Re: Fin rot on DP?

Back from 4 days out of my house. My neighbor fed the fish and added the medicine. Also I got some bloodworms (the Ikari brand are enriched with vitamins), so the vitamins might help. I'm being careful to keep the nitrate at 7 maximum... It seems to be quite stable, no deterioration, but no improvme...

Re: Fin rot on DP?

Thanks you guys. I've added Melafix and Pimafix. Problem is I'm leaving for 4 days... So no other treatment will be undertaken for now. I can't say wether it's worse or stable... the dents are still there, it's not better and did I see a bit more of a ragged tail? She doesn't open it long enough for...
