crushed coral & plants
okay, i had one of these stupid moments. i have a 28 gallon brackish tank at 1.002, and i want to get real plants for it. i set up a 10gallon tank to quarantine plants, and i couldn't find the right gravel at the local petstore. i bought crushed coral because i read somewhere that it was good for th...

Re: Parasite Medication
i used that medication on my puffers by putting 1/8 of the tablet and letting it soak in food for an hour, and treating for 7 days. i could see worms coming out, but the puffers eventually died. maybe i wasn't medicating properly, or maybe they died because they were weak in the first place.

Re: cause of death?
thanks for ur help. i'll need to be more careful if i medicate my new ones. they have been treated before, so i'll let them settle for a while and see how they do. uh i can see their teeth too...they're not like fangs, but more like rabbit teeth. so, i'm worried about having to trim them now.

Re: cause of death?
I am very new to fish keeping so I apologize in advance. I have read before that fish can die from conditions in the store up to a month after you buy them. I am sorry that you lost your fish(it makes me very depressed when I lose a fish too especially a puffer)... Any help is appreciated. :) I gue...

Re: cause of death?
What are the symptoms for IP? Is it listlessness, worms coming out, thin body, and lose of appetite? I would think that if that happens, then it would be pretty serious...what are the early symptoms?

Re: cause of death?
Water changes are always your first step if anything seems wrong. My biggest worry is that your test kits aren't reading correctly.. you should have some nitrates at the very least. Oh another question, what kind of water changes were you doing all this time? Add any products to the tank such as st...

Re: cause of death?
One thing to keep in mind with almost all puffer species.. they are wild caught... Also, if they had a high parasite load, feeding them the IP medication could have caused a big die off which poisoned their bodies.. that's why usually a half dose is recommended if you suspect a bad IP problem. So i...

Re: cause of death?
the tank has been running for about 2 months now. fishless cycling with fish food took me a month (so i will use plain ammonia the next time i have to set up a new tank!), and i have had the fish for about 3 weeks.
