Mbu - Odd behaviour..
Hi, Not posted for ages but thought this was the best place to get some opinions / experience on this... Our Mbu is about 5 years old now and going strong. Last week I came home from work I noticed that he didn't look his normal self. On closer inspection one of his eyes was completely pushed back i...

Water Changes
Hello. I am convinced that there is an easier way to do my water changes so just wanted to hear how other do theirs and the techniques used. I have a 6' x 2' x 2' and change roughly 25% of the water each week. Basically I syphon the water out in a 30l water butt and repeat this about 5 times. I then...

Re: Little MBU Don't do much swimming!!
Even at 3.5" your Mbu needs a much much bigger tank. I'm afraid that the fact is your 4ft tank is too small so 100 litres is tiny. The lack of space is the major factor as to why your Mbu is inactive. You have also only just purchased him so will need to settle in and get familar with the surro...

Re: Moving a MBU
Sorry folks, still not got round to those promised photos! Must remember!! Last night Mooboo puffed for the first time (that we know of)! It was really quite amazing to watch if not a little scary! It seem to be just an 'equipment check' and couldn't have lasted more than 10 seconds. I wonder if the...

Re: MBU goes crazy
Upgrading your Mbu to a bigger tank is not something that you just knock together over a weekend. You need to consider the biggest possible tank based upon what you can afford, the strength of your floorboards and what will actually fit through the front door. I'm in the process of upgrading my tank...

Re: Moving a MBU
Funny you should mention a cave as that is what I had in mind as a feature for the tank. Going to pick up some cheap aquarium slate and silicone it together to make a nice big cave for him to rest / hide in. Will attach some moss and a few anubias too, job's a good 'un! :-) Having moved him once I'm...

Re: Moving a MBU
Just another update as the move is STILL taking shape! I have a 6' x 2' x 2' setup now and an FX5 is cycling using media from the current tank. Sand substrate is in and the lighting rig arrives tomorrow. All that is left is decor and plants then finally I can move the guy across!! Just wanted to kee...

Re: Mbu Puffer not eating
Hi there, glad to hear Brian is a little more lively. Maybe keeping the light off for a couple a days will help him relax if he is out of sorts.
Like the others who've replied to this post the issue seem to relate to the nitrite reading. Hope the large W/C sorts things out.
Keep us posted!

Re: Moving a MBU
Cheers for the replies. I put 2-3 months as I still need to save up for and buy the required equipment. I am running an internal and external filter on his current tank and had planned to move the internal one across to speed up the cycling process. I will provide an update (with pictures) once the ...

Re: Moving a MBU
Just an update! Successfully moved Moobo over the weekend. Caught him fairly easily in the bucket and he was calm as you like. In fact when I went to put him back into the tank once it had been moved he wanted to stay in the bucket and kept swimming backwards into it!! Got a 6 x 2 x 2 tank & cab...
