Re: Compatibility.

I tried to put some cory's with my fahaka to keep the top layer of the sand clean... Before they swam in the tank my fahaka killed one right true the plastic bag... It depends per fahaka, but for the most of them: You will be eaten!

Re: Fahaka eats her lip

She has a "granny-with-no-teeth lips" look ;) hehehe But like I told you today earlier when I noticed she didn't had the upper teeth, maybe because of an infection earlier on it never healed 100% and made her upper teeth go away. One idea is to completely trim her bottom teeth so the infec...

Re: Fahaka eats her lip

Maybe on the inside it's swollen, you could check that bauk. From the outside it isn't swollen (seen it myself), also the teeth aren't that long that they need trimming. Only occasionally you can see her teeth. From the outside the skin of Faya is more ripped, could be a wound from the past that ope...

Re: Joop the Fahaka!

Still nothing for a background, found something but have to order it :) Takes some time :) Haha! But I do have some new pictures from our friend Joop :D Yesterday he had a tadpole and young female endler for lunch, he liked it very much!! It won't be his 'normal' food, but it was more like a test wh...

Re: Fahaka not growing as fast as written...

Hmm could be a different kind, but the chance is very very small. Concluding is, be more patient and don't worry as long as he's happy. If he's still the same size in 6 months, the chance that he came from Lake Turkana is a lot bigger I suppose. I can always ask the LFS where the Fahaka's came from,...

Re: Fahaka not growing as fast as written...

@LilGreenPuffer: Would rather look silly, such a small fahaka in bigger tank :) ;) He'll get a bigger tank, if he grows... No worries there. With 50% water change every week I don't agree if you have a good working eco-system. But that's another discussion :) The fahaka was directly imported from Af...

Fahaka not growing as fast as written...

Since november 2008 I've a Fahaka. I have the idea that he is very happy; he is looking healthy, joyfull, plenty of water, plenty of places for food-search-partys..But.. He isn't growing that fast as it is told (1 inch/2,3cm a month). When I got him he was about 3-4 cm, now he is only 7-8cm... While...

He's cute! :D How big is he? What is the size of the tank he's living in?

Got a complete tank-shot?

Re: Fahaka and crayfish?

I always put the live crayfish in WITH the claws. My Fahaka has learned how to get to the juicy part of the crayfish without getting hurt. Just looking at his moves and tactics are great :D Only once a crayfish managed to grab my fahaka. My fahaka is about 6-7cm and the crayfish I feed are 3-4cm.

Re: New Puffer owner (Fahaka)

Very cool! :D The colors are this way because he's a little bit stressed out and still very young. My fahaka was just the same 2 months ago. It will change if you treat him right :) But I'm sure that is not going to be a problem. :D He will get his stripes very soon, they become better and more beau...

Re: Are Fahaka Puffers very friendly?

Puffers are very social puffers when it comes to people outside the tank. But once inside... it becomes your enemy no1, or not :) He'll just do as him is pleased. Sometimes I can play with him and the other time I've to watch my fingers because they are not safe. I've noticed they respond to very br...

Re: Joop the Fahaka!

With crab I mean this kind of food (american freshwater, lives in rivers): http://fotos.punkyfish.nl/images/marmerkreeft.JPG I feed him when they are about 4cm, not larger (yet). It's 2 bites and they are gone if he tries hard. Mostly it's gone in 3 or 4 bites. Alive shrimps are awesome to see getti...

Joop the Fahaka!

A while ago I had 2 GSP's in a 200ltr tank. Sadly one of them died, he was sucked onto the in-tube of my filter. Not a nice sight.. But very important lesson learned here the hard way. ALWAYS USE THE BASKETS FOR THE IN-TUBE! He was the largest of the two and so I decided to give the other one to a f...

Re: Brown Algae?!

About the zeolite, I've got some to. But it is special for sea tanks. It says so on the box. Shouldn't I must have the same ammonium problem? Because I don't....
