My F8 is in a brackish water 36 gallon tank. But my question wasn't really about my fish just general. I know what the official info is about how long F8s live for but just like people it must vary and of course the conditions play a big part. I was just interested in as many peoples personal experi...

I would move most of the decor over to the smaller tank, at least his favorite bits, they won't all fit. One thing that makes me think that he might be okay with a smaller tank is that he favors one end of the tank he is in, spending at least 80% of the time in one half. He is unlike his tank mate w...

I have had one for 5 years but the one I bought at the same time died recently. Just lost weight untill it looked really sickly then died. I don't know how old they were when I bought them. They grew some after I got them but were already fairly large so I don't think they were very young.

There is a puffer very like the lorteti that is not aggressive, google it to make sure this one is a lorteti. I have been told that lorteti can be kept in pairs but when I tried it one killed the other unexpectedly after a period of relative peace. Don't try to keep them with any other puffer!!!! Th...

Maybe I'm just stuck with him in the big tank. It's just that the tank seems so empty with only him and I didn't really want to get tank mates for him. I do want him to be happy. Any one else have any thoughts?

you favorite marine puffer for 78 gallon tank?

I'm not about to run out and buy one but I'd love to get a marine puffer some time. (I've kept brackish and fresh water puffers for a few years). If I did get one It would probably be for about a 78 gallon tank. What would be your first choices out of interest. My ideals are: Something that doesn't ...

Will my F8 really be happy in a 15 gallon tank?

I have a F8 puffer in a 27 gallon tank on his own, his tank mate died a couple of months ago. I'm thinking about moving him to a smaller tank to make room for other fish. I have a 15 gal tank empty which would be perfect (for me) but I'm worried that it won't give him enough space to be really happy...

I've never had agression isure with my F8s but it is always a risk. As for quarentine-DO IT. I find out the hard way, after 5 years of healthy fish, and lost 3 of my four puffers plus the new one that I added from disease that I'm pretty sure the new one introduced.

Anyone try Orange Chromides? Black Mollies? I had black moly that got on ok with F8s. She got bit once in a while but didn't seem to be bothered. She did stess out one of the shy F8s a bit though cos she was a real bully. BB gobies got eaten...oops! My favorite companions for F8s are monos but you ...

Some people say that their F8's get agressive with age, mine never have done (after five years) but if you are going to have more than one in a tank think about if you are prepaired to give them seperate tanks if the time comes that you have to.

One of my F8's paced constantly when I first had him but it stopped after a while. I put a pile of stones where he could totaly get out of my sight and that helped other than that it just took a bit of time. I think it is cos they are often wild caught and don't understand the sides of a tank. Anoth...

I tried a bumble bee gobie with my F8's and it got eaten :( prehaps it was too small (?). In a big enough tank a school of monos make great companions. I also had a black moly with my F8's, she bullied them a bit and got bitten once and a while but got on ok. It partly depends on the puffer you have...
