Phew, thank you so much for your replies... :D Normally I don't trust LFS but this man was just so stubborn and persistant. I don't know anything about where DPs spawn in nature, but I'll go with RTR and "strictly FW" :) Then I believe I'm not "torturing" my DPs by keeping them i...

He said DPs are really brackish!?

Just been down in one of the fish stores here in town. I asked the manager for some snails for my DPs - and thereby accidentally mentioned the words "puffer fish". I shouldn't have done that because then the manager started explaining to me just how big this fish would be (held out his arm...

Really, do they like garlic? :D I'll try! And I'll keep offering the worms too every day when the other one is fed. I hope he starts eating then.... :(

Thanks Boxermom!

DP will only eat snails - any tricks to make him eat worms?

One of my little young DPs which I bought recently doesn't show any interest in the bloodworms I usually feed my DPs. I had some snails, but didn't get to make a snail farm and now the snails are all eaten. The little DP concerned has already become skinnier. I keep this fish in a small tank with on...

Ok, thanks...:)

If they are too young to sex, then when can you tell? How big/old should they be?

Female or male? Please help me

Hi guys I wondered if it's possible for any of you to tell me the sex of my DPs by looking at these pictures of my two little friends?? :D Also I wonder if they're grown-ups by now or? I think they're between 2-3 cm long. I can't see any wrinkles behind any eyes myself and can't see any belly lines ...

Hi again everyone! :) As I told you earlier on I am trying to deworm my small DPs with Gel Tek. When I fed them the worms with medicine, the fish were quite slim. Then they ate a bit and weren't quite so slim but on the other hand also not as fat as I would like them to be. Then this morning, all of...

Alright, thanks, Boxermom...! I just don't see any wrinkles behind any eyes.. Well maybe there are wrinkles behind Scar's eyes now that I come to think of it! But I just thought they were some kind of scars too. I'll take a look at Scar again:) The other fish may be females then. But that would be l...

Unfortunately I don't have a picture right now... but they don't move or enlarge. Anyway they haven't done so far. I think I won't worry about it then. That DP won't ever be pretty when it grows up I think... :? Naming him/her is easy then, Scar it is... ;) When mentioning growing up I actually don'...

Ok, thanks for the advice. I did think it was weird that they didn't just eat the worms when I fed them; they actually get the entire worm in to the mouth often - and then spit out again. But as I mentioned above I've begun treating them for IP just today, so I hope they'll improve after that... I r...

By the way: one of my small DPs also have some thin white stripes on its body. It kind of looks like old scars. Do you think it's old scars that I don't need to worry about - or is it some disease that I need to treat?

Oh no

But mine are so small... I really don't get how they can have slightly overgrown teeth already?! But it must be teeth that I see. What else can it be... I really hope they will eat more and it'll go away :?
