I've never noticed my Dwarf puffers puffing up like that but I have on SEVERAL occasions noticed the males flattening their bodies in a verticle manner. I thought that was the only way they were able to "puff"...

Gill Fluke Treatment for Puffers?

I need to treat my figure eight for gill flukes but I'm not really sure how to go about it. I know that a lot of medications are not suitable for scaleless fish. Has anyone tried anything with any success? Does anyone have any idea of what I need to do?

I've been reading some old posts and I think that this might be a case of gill flukes combined with internal parasites. I'm going to try a gill scrape (seeing as I work in a microbiology lab). Right now I would like to TRY to help the little guy, but if that leads to nothing than I will consider let...

Another update... The remaining figure eight was just observed sporatically swimming around the tank kind of jerky like. I think there is something really wrong here. It's not nitrite/ammonia poisoning or anything of the sort... I'm really confused and don't want to lose BOTH of my figure eights... ...

I'm not sure if we will get another figure eight. This tank is my boyfriends responsibility, and he is the one who is really attached to the fish. He may not have the heart to replace her for a few months. Although I shuold be worried because there is a 5 inch figure eight at the fish store that he ...

A bit of bad news... I awoke this morning to find my puffer lying still on the bottom of the tank. I think it was a tad too late for her. It's belly was not sunken when we bought it, but over the past few days it has gotten that way. She did have a darker belly than the other puffer, and thats how w...

Figure Eight acting strange

Lately we have noticed that one of our figure eights has been sitting on the bottom of the tank or in plants to an excessive amount. This puffer has stopped eating in the past few days. We have tried everything to tempt it (which the other puffer loves... he's quite fat). The sick puffer is around 3...

Wow, he's a sleepy little fellow... I suppose I'll just leave him alone so he can have a nap. Good news :) Thank you.

Lethargic Figure Eight

My figure eight has started to lay at the bottom of the tank. He is eating fine. Doesn't seem constipated. Tank specs are 25g, figure eight is the only inhabitant, fully cycled, all paramaters are fine (just got a water change), SD 1.004. We've had him for about a month now and this is the first we ...
