We are moving in on Friday so as soon as I'm allowed, it will begin - I would think a couple of weeks.

OK, complete change of plan, or should I say tank dimensions as we've get the keys for a new house now and a 10ft tank will just not go. I do however have the opportunity to take out a large wall cupboard and replace it with a similarly volumed tank - 7(l) x 3(w) x 4(h). This tank will therefore see...

I've seen Figure of 8s, dwarfs and Fahakas in the LFS but I think we can pretty much get our hands on anything that isn't rare.

Puffer Recommendation?

Having seen my Mbu ( this thread ), a friend of mine has decided to change his tropical freshwater setup and get a puffer (or puffers) and nothing else. Trouble is he only has (and has room for) a 100ltr tank - so an Mbu is out of the question yet the whole reason for this change is that he thinks t...

OK, 2nd stage in - (s)he went into a 700ltr yesterday with an Eheim 2329 and an Eheim 2128 running on it. Eating well (prawns and mussels), not showing interest in cockles with shell yet. The new tank has a common sand substrate whereas the last one has black sand - today all seems fine but the colo...

The tank will be built into a breeze block wall (so it is flush on one side and sticks out into the back room for maintenance) and base so apart from strategic support of the base, the configuration is up to me - I could built in a couple of 4 x 2 x 2 sumps without changing my planned build.

I guess I'll have to get it in place and see. Have been looking at the FX5s too and (although ugly) may give a few of these a go on something else to see how they work - their filtration rates are certainly better and I need to check out how the automatic water changes facility works (mine is separa...
