Re: FIG 8 Puffer -NEEDS NEW HOME

I dont know about you, but whenever i have tried to convince my friends to get in to fish keeping they have all looked at me like i am an idiot!

Most people just cannot comprehend the joys of keeping an interesting fish.

Plus i dont have any friends

Re: FIG 8 Puffer -NEEDS NEW HOME

Unfortunately i am moving to a temporary home and will not be staying there much. I have always thought that if i had to move i would take him with me but on this occassion it is completely impractical. If i was moving to a permanant home (for a number of years) i would definately take him. But only...

FIG 8 Puffer -NEEDS NEW HOME

Hi There, I have had a fig 8 puffer fish now for coming up to 3 years - He is a great fish. My circumstances have however changed and i need to move house within the next 4 weeks. Ideally i would prefer to give the fish away to a good home. I dont really like the idea of sending him back to the fish...

Re: Figure 8 Puffer Tank mates

I was aware that SAP's teeth grow faster.

But do different Fig 8's teeth grow faster than others? Maybe down to the water quality? Im not sure.

Re: Figure 8 Puffer Tank mates

I have had my Fig 8 puffer now for 3 years. I generally add snails (little round ones about the size of his eye and a little bigger) once every couple of months. I dont grow any in a special tank. I did try to but the malayasian trumpet snails took over! I get the snails whenever i visit the LFS to ...

Re: F8 behaving out of character

Hi again. I did my weekly water change on Sunday. I changed the whole tank around and blocked off the place that the puffer used to hide (there are plently of other caves for him). I changed the flow of the filters to go the other direction and added a bit more air flow into the water. At first ther...

F8 behaving out of character

Hi, My F8 that i have now had for about 2 and a half years has started to behave strangly. The tank is 140litres and he shares it with 5 bumblebee gobies. It is brakish at .004-6. I do a 20% water change every week and the tank is massively over filtered with one large external canister filter and 2...

My Fig 8 that i have had for 2 years seems to not like the light. Not really sure why. He usually finds a nice dark corner of the tank during the day when the light is on then when the light goes off becomes quite active. The tank is heavily decorated. I quite often find that when i move the decorat...

I Finally managed to find some bumblebee gobies at a fish store. I have added 5 to the new tank (it has been left to mature for 1 month and water quality is good). I have to say that the Bumblebees are a lot more active than I thought they would be, they are really entertaining to watch. So now I st...

You know it is funny you should say that about the F8 not eating the mollie fry. I used to keep mollies and platies with the puffer when it was in freshwater (in my uneducated days of keeping the F8) - When the platies had fry - of which they had lots! the puffer would eat them, but when the mollies...

I think you are all right and that would be what you said. The existing puffer is in a 45l tank at the moment but is being moved to a 140l tank shortly - The tank is being left to cycle at the moment, I dont think that it is worth the risk to add another F8, so im gonna just put in 5 BB gobies. Luck...
