Re: Floating Island
Mr. Green, Interesting idea. If I understand correctly you're basically talking about an underwater air pocket the crabs can sit in out of water. Only problem I see is that crabs like to bask in the sun, so if I want them to thrive and not just survive they would need to be able to get to a light so...

Re: Floating Island
gee.. never thought of that :D *wink wink* That's one thing I'm hoping, unfortunately the fiddlers won't breed or I'd have baby crabs for everyone to munch on. But ya with the crabs taking dips I'm not as worried about leaving for the weekend and making sure my two boys have some food. I am going to...

Floating Island
So I'm forced to move apt's at the end of the month, which means tearing down then re-assembling my tank at the new place. So I'm doing a little (lot) of redecorating, and it seems my F8's have no interest in eating the fiddler crab that I have in my 55g now so I figure might as well make him a suit...

Lost a puffer... looking to replace
So I lost one of the three stooges yesterday. He'd been acting kinda funny for about a week but his color was a bit duller than normal but still good and he was eating just fine. Then I got home the other day and he was dead.. very sad :-(. I've had the same three for about a year and a half, they l...

Re: Can a spider kill a F8
IMO I'd say it's possible. Poisonous to humans probably not but to my knowladge spiders eat by injecting venom into victims the venom numbs/paralyzes/kills the victim while turning their insides to liquid the spider can suck out later. Which is why spiders wrap their prey in silk to hold the liquid ...

Re: New Hardware
I'll have to look into the PVC trick. that might help. I need to open up my XP3 also. It seems like something might be jamming part of the output also. I thought about plants, Even tried it back when I was all freshwater silver dollars and guppies but I could never really get the plants to survive a...

New Hardware
Hiya, So I just got back the governments check to me and I'm thinking it's time to do some hardware changes/updates/add-ons to the tank. I've got a 55 gal, fake plants, sandy bottom, RENA XP3, some lights from the home depot, and decor. Housed in there I've got my 3 kings of the tank, 3 beautiful F8...

I got some rocks and made a cave for a dragon goby. Don't see him clearly but I know he's there.

Re: Rescue of a F8
Sorry to report but I woke up and Charlie was dead. Which really sucks for more reasons that just I lost a fish. It makes me question what I did, and what I could have done differently or better, cause he was still alive and seemed to be doing good. Did I push him to far to fast, could have done x,y...

Re: Rescue of a F8
Did a 50% water change tonight, removed the gravel and everything, I left him a cup so he's at least got a cave to go into. His look hasn't really changed. some of the old spots are gone, some new ones have formed. Got his temp up to 86 and I did a good water change tonight. He's still eating and we...

Re: Rescue of a F8
Thanks for all the advice.. charlie (for now) is still alive, He happily watched us make breakfast this morning and snacked on a few snails himself. I did a quick water change matching his SG and raised the temp up a few deg. when I get home this afternoon for lunch he should be right around the mag...
