RIP Peter - my figure 8
Peter went to the big fish bowl in the sky last night. I had him for about 5 years, so we had a good long run, although I think it was cut a bit short. His teeth ended up growing too long and I didn't notice in time. I tried to do the clove oil trick, but he never came back from being knocked out. I...

Is new Bio Spira as good as old Bio Spira?
I am moving my reef tank in a few weeks and was thinking about getting some Bio Spira to combat the potential mini cycle that the move is sure to spawn. Upon further research I realized they have changed the formula to a shelf-stable product. I have trouble trusting any shelf-stable bacteria and was...

Re: BW plants???
yeah, hornwort isnt amazing looking -- i found that if you try to anchor it to the bottom, the bottom part starts to die, so i just let if float, or anchor in some rockwork near the top of the aquarium -- its good for my smaller, over-lit 20 gal tank with 65 watts of CF lighting on it (the hornwort ...

Re: BW plants???
i am embarassed to say that i have never tested my KH -- my tank has done best when i have left it alone and just done 50% water changes once a week -- dosing ferts, adding co2 and all that stuff just gave me crazy algae problems (probably because i wasnt testing the right stuff, like KH) -- i have ...

Re: Figure 8 with bump on face - please help !

Re: Ocho's New Tank
keep us updated on the progress -- looks like the tank will fill in nicely ! your tank inspired my to add red tiger lotus to my setup and i love it i was also thinking of using eco-complete on my planted brackish tank -- the idea was to change it over slowly - i currently have black sand/tan-colored...

Re: teeth
Here is a link to my little figure 8 going to town on some prawn -- since you puffers are much bigger, they will probably be able to crunch down even more on the sides of the shell

Re: teeth
you can get frozen prawn (essentially just big shrimp) at the supermarket - cut the tail off, leaving some meat -- this way they are forced to chew through some shell --
