I would treat all your fish with hypo and leave your 55 gallon tank empty for 6 to 8 weeks. This is the only way that you will be sure to kill off the parasites. I wouldnt use anything metal if its going to come into contact with any water because it will rust. You could use eggcrate or something similar which is made of plastic. None of my tanks have lids though and my Canthigaster sp. have never jumped out.

Ive never heard of 'trigger pods' before but personally wouldnt trust it. Instead of buying fish id be buying more live rock. Pods will come on live rock and over time will populate. Id wait about 6 months before adding a mandarin fish.

Id definately get a blenny for the tank. They eat algae and have great personalities and aren't agressive at all. I love my Bi-Colour blenny, and also have a Lawnmower blenny that does a great job cleaning algae but is pretty big and a bit ugly.
