Re: Mutha-Fahaka finally eating frozen

all expenses aside, If you just want to throw flake food into an aquarium then a fahaka is definitely not the fish for you, As stated above different animals have different dietary needs, If i were you i would concentrate on my 29 other tanks and 999 other fish and sell the fahaka to someone who is ...

Re: Mutha-Fahaka finally eating frozen

i spent 4 dollars yesterday on half a pound of prawns and half a pound of scallops, those little packs of krill at the lfs cost the same and don't last nearly as long, and blue whales are made to eat krill, Mbu's and fahakas eat mollusks in the wild, hence the "blowing on the sand" techniq...

Re: mbu experiment

and i don't think you got the point of this post lawone, she had to separate them due to aggression, i'm surprised she even got that far as mine would have ravaged another mbu in it's tank

Re: Mutha-Fahaka finally eating frozen

i would switch over to market prawns, cockles, scallops n such, i've heard bad things about a mostly krill diet.

Re: mbu experiment

3rd pic down, is that an optical illusion or is there really that big of a girth difference between the two?

Re: How long does it take for a Mbu to grow to 2.5ft?

the growth of your puffer will depend on amount of food you give it and it's genetics. That "inch a month" rule hasn't applied to either of my fahakas or my mbu, but maybe it will for your puffer?

Re: A. modestus owners

after my modestus broke through the divider and mauled my baby red congo puffer to death i gave up on them being nice to anything, i think this is one of the species of puffer that were found to eat a lot of fins and scales of other fish in the wild, so if you do plan on multiple modestus i say good...

Re: Mbu Tank

my only advice is read read read, plan plan plan, and don't buy the puffer untill the tank/pond is up and running, i can't say i've always followed these rules but it's definitely the best way to go and about the whole getting beat up for asking thing, sometimes it does seem that way, but a lot of p...

Re: Ich Issue...Read the Hospital Section Need Clarification

yeah i found a refractometer for 50 bucks and it has worked great for 4 years now, instead of sticking a big plastic thing in your tank you just put a little pipette full of tank water on the window and bam you got the salinity, get one

Re: Ich Issue...Read the Hospital Section Need Clarification

I don't raise the temp at all for marine ich, my reef tank always stays around 78-80 degree's so the parasites life cycle is already fast, plus it's already harder for oxygen to dissolve in saltwater so taking the temp up higher than 80 would make it even more difficult for oxygen exchange, taking t...

Re: Fahaka not well

do you have any melafix/pimafix handy? that wouldn't hurt and would also rule out a skin problem, when my mbu was given to me he was always dark and didn't eat or move alot for a week and a half, but a day after i dosed with Mela/Pima he was bright and hungry, coincidence? i don't think so, any live...
