Re: Deworming and treating internal parasities in puffers by dosing in the water?

Are they FW puffers? Did you8 try adding garlic juice to the medicated soak? No they are not fw, they are bw. Yes, i have mashed some garlic and soaked it in the garlic juice for 10 minutes. They did not like it at all. Maybe i need to buy seachem garlic instead? Or should i just pour the medicine ...

Deworming and treating internal parasities in puffers by dosing in the water?

Hi! I want to deworm my puffers and treat internal parasites, however they wont eat medicated feed (maybe its bitter or something). I'm trying to treat them with praziquantel and metronidazole. There are instructions on the package on how to treat by dosing the water. However according to https://ww...

Re: Big spots on newly caught GSP? (pictures)

Puffer bites. Looks like GSPs but at that age, difficult to tell. Do they have the yellow spot on their head? Oh dear, if its puffer bites/injury, i think salt can treat it. I'm not sure what yellow spot you are talking about but here are some extra pictures! https://ibb.co/nb1Z4Hj https://ibb.co/Z...

Big spots on newly caught GSP? (pictures)

What are these spots on these puffers? These are puffers that I caught in a nearby river. I'm slowly increasing the salinity from freshwater to brackish. But i'm not sure what these spots are and if salt can help treat them. Does anyone know? Picture: https://ibb.co/Jqtc6nd Close up Picture: https:/...

Thanks for your advice! Now the fungus is almost gone, however i see him breathing only through one gill. He is only using the gills that is on the side of the fungus infection. Is this normal behaviour?

Re: What is this white, tissue like thing attached to puffer?

It does appear to be a fungus, possibly due to an injury. You can try Pimafiz/Melafix or go stronger with Meth Blue treatment. I'd also get the SG to at least 1.004, as long as the QT isn't cycled anyway. Thank you for the reply puffer punk! Unfortunately its kinda hard to find pimafix and melafix....

Re: Adult GSP are supposed to live in freshwater? (Study)

Adult GSPs thrive in marine conditions & become sickly &with shorter lifespans in FW, in captivity. That's strange..... why do they move from BW when their juvenile to FW as adult in the wild? I also visited a fish store and they sold both juvenile and adult GSP. They told me that they keep...

Adult GSP are supposed to live in freshwater? (Study)

I found this study from the National University of Singapore. It says that adult GSP are found natively in freshwater while their juveniles are in brackish water. But from what i read online from other sources, they say to increase the salinity of the aquarium as the GSP ages. I'm not sure I underst...

Forgive me, I meant to say it's not unshelled*, meaning the shell of the shrimp is still intact. Will this shrimp be enough to trim the teeth?

Is dried shrimp with shell enough to trim GSP teeth?

Hi! I'm new to puffer fish care and i have a GSP. I know you need to trim their teeth using hard foods like clams, cockles and mussels. But can't even afford those for myself let alone my fishes haha. I found some dried shrimps/krill that is supposed to be arowana, flowerhorn...etc food being sold o...
