Re: Puffers and Betta Mahachaiensis
Update: I've added the female Mahachai. Both are alive and healthy, eating a bit too much, but otherwise they are fine. I'm planning to breed them in December.

Re: Puffers and Betta Mahachaiensis
They are in the tank with the Betta. No aggression and the Betta seems healthy.

Puffers and Betta Mahachaiensis
I've gotten a single juvenile Betta Mahachaiensis in my brackish tank right now (Betta Mahachaiensis is naturally found in brackish swamps, it is one of the few hardwater Betta species). No signs of aggression and the Betta is slurping up bloodworms, but I'm wondering how difficult it would be to st...

Re: HELP! Puffers biting holes in plants.
Any plants I should avoid or do they do it to all plants. It's killing them and I worry the plants can't recover from the constant damage. If they're so smart, will they learn to stop eventually? Or are my plants screwed.

HELP! Puffers biting holes in plants.
As the title stated, my figure 8 pufferfish are biting holes in my java fern. There are no snails in the tank and I haven't fed live foods yet so they certainly aren't biting them by accident. Is there any solution to this issue? Is it perhaps because my plants are already turning brown so they mist...

Current stocking for figure 8 puffer tank. Is it suitable?
I'm setting up a 50 gallon Figure 8 tank. Tank is 50 gallons with an overhead sump connected to a power head that runs 500gph. Pothos is planted in the sump, along with duckweed and a homemade algae scrubber. Current stocking is a betta and 3 swordtails, but I will move the betta out when my other t...

Re: Algae Scrubbers
NOTHING substitutes for water changes. Not saying I won't do water changes-Once every 3 or 3 weeks But instant ocean is expensive here-30 dollars for 200 gallons of light brackish So if I did weekly water changes I would spend 30 or even 40 dollars a month on salt alone And I'm a student so it will...

Algae Scrubbers
How effective do you think they are? I'm planning on setting one up for my brackish 50 gallon to minimize water changes and subsequently marine salt costs.
