Re: Check out my tank, let me know what you think.
Yeah when I was setting up the tank I thought about how big of a pain in the butt it will be to clean it out. Its not the first tank I have done a large rock formation in. But I decided that since I would be doing big water changes once a week I would just use a smaller diameter hose and stuff it in...

Re: Check out my tank, let me know what you think.
K, thanks for the constructive criticism, I will see how the puffers like it before I change stuff around. if they don't seem as active I will remove some of the plants and see how they react, since the tank is for them and not me. Like I said before there is alot more room in there then it looks. I...

Re: Check out my tank, let me know what you think.
Its a 30 gallon tank, I have never been a big fan of these tanks. I hate how tall and narrow they are, but once you throw in almost 40 pounds of lace rock and a whack load of fake plants, it starts looking better.

Re: Check out my tank, let me know what you think.
Thanks for the comments, I try and make my tanks as aesthetically pleasing as possible. I will switch it over to live plants once I can rig up a decent hood and lights. The fake plants will work for now though.

Re: Check out my tank, let me know what you think.
Im going to be putting some figure eights in there, there is still quite a bit of room, the plants make it look as though there is less. There a lot of caves in those rocks, all have opens at least three inches tall and wide. I just thought it would be better with a ton of plants in there to help br...

Re: Filtration for figure eights
Yes, I have cleaned the impeller, part of my weekly maintenance on all of my filters. It could just be a piece of junk. I even tryed it at a different height and it didnt make to much of a difference.

Re: Filtration for figure eights
No, I have had the fluval for around a year now. But it was on my Ornate Bichar tank, and if any fish is more messy then a puffer its an ornate. I think I let it get to clogged up a few times to many and may have damaged the pump a little. Even with weekly cleanings the flow coming out of it was dim...

Re: Filtration for figure eights
I dont know what my fluvals problem is. Its pumping quite a bit but not what I need. There is no flow in the bottom of the tank. May be ill look for a AC 70 or something else.

Filtration for figure eights
So my 29 gallon has been up and running for about a week now, and I have noticed that the flow in the tank is horrible. I have a fluval 305 on the tank, but the head height on it is about three feet, making the flow very week. I was thinking about getting a aquaclear 110 but they are really expensiv...

Re: What's your puffer's name?
I dont even have my puffers yet but I know what their names will be, Ra and Isis
My porky puffer was named Titan, he was a beast to say the least, around 26 inches, he took up a good portion of my old mans 400 gallon tank- he died 2 years ago
, rest in peace little man.

Re: F8 Tank need help
Thanks for all the help got a couple more questions though How much light would you think I would need to keep java fern alive? I was thinking a 55 watt Compact would be enough. also If i do decide to start brackish and drip my puffers, do you think that would be alright for the java fern as well? e...

Re: F8 Tank need help
K so I have been doing some reading on the site and thinking about how to set up this tank. -I think I might use crushed coral in place of sand, due to the face that I had a problem with a reef sand bed going anaerobic on me before (not sure if this is a problem in BW), and also for the fact that I ...

F8 Tank need help
Hello I am getting ready to start up a F8 tank (planning on getting 2), this will be my first brackish tank (7 years freshwater, 5 years Marine experience...I think I can handle it :D ). Anyway, I have a 29 gallon tank sitting around, I plan on using an aragonite sand, and making a fair sized rock f...

I just looking for ideas, I would kinda like to stay with freshwater variety's but it isn't essential. I wouldn't have any trouble setting up either. Also I don't really want tiny little puffer's either. I would like a larger size one not huge or anything but the biggest one I could fit in that tank...
