Re: Small Mbu Not Eating Few Days After Bringing Home?
I am not entirely sure on how fast they grow, but seeing how big he is already, I am guessing I have about a year and a half until he will be close to two feet. Hopefully in a few months he will be going from the 75 to a 72x24 footprint tank. It will be more of a priority for me than an option as I ...

Re: Small Mbu Not Eating Few Days After Bringing Home?
Okay great! I like to think I am good at puffers, but as soon as something happens like this I get real worried. In addition to this, I he has eaten all of the Ramshorn snails inside the tank and about half of a worm! So this is good news. As he is currently in QT, I am thinking it will be a cycle l...

Small Mbu Not Eating Few Days After Bringing Home?
I am just going to preface this by saying that I do not agree with most people purchasing Mbu Puffers as they get much too large to handle for even dedicated hobbyists, that being said, here is my story on how I got one.... I am going to keep this short-ish. I had seen a listing on the Facebook grou...

Re: Picked Up Four Schoutedeni Puffers!
Really? That is quite interesting! I take it your're feeding frozen foods. I assume you know this, or have tried it, but perhaps dancing the food around on a string to make it seem 'alive' can stimulate fish.

Re: Picked Up Four Schoutedeni Puffers!
Yes I have done some searches, and it seems there is 'a lot' of people having success in the realm of puffers. It seems to be decently common with spotted congo's but most people only buy one of them due to the price- but also the rearing the fry is ridiculously intensive labor. I would love to see ...

Picked Up Four Schoutedeni Puffers!
So currently it is day four of owning these little fellers and I can tell they are still stressed from the previous living conditions and shipping, but all are eating and seem happier! I picked them up on eBay of all places and two came in fairly plump, one a bit skinny, and one was pretty skinny (w...

Re: Fahaka Puffer Slow Growth?
So glad to hear this. Here soon I should be getting him into a 120g (48Lx24Hx24W) tank, which he will remain in for quite some time. I do like this size of tank due to the depth it will give him, and once I add some hardscape he should be much happier. Currently, due to lack of funds, it is just a p...

Re: Fahaka Puffer Slow Growth?
Okay, thank you for the reply! I take it he is pretty on course for his age then I suppose. I am thinking based upon when I got him and his size then, he probably hatched in January or February sometime, so almost a year old. I have read everywhere that Fahakas grow at about 1"/Month for their ...

Fahaka Puffer Slow Growth?
I currently own a Nile Puffer - Appropriately named Niles. I have owned him since 05/2020 and it is now almost 12/2020 and he really hasn't grown much compared to how others describe their growth. When I got him his body was about 1" long and now his body is just under 3". He is a thick bo...
