F8... or a GSP ... which should I get?

Both of these are generally available in my area, and I want to be able to pick just the right little guy, not just settle with one that's in stock at the moment. Does anyone have experience with F8's and GSP's? I had an F8, he lived solo in a 75g 15-19 ppt salinity water (high, I know), with tons o...

Re: figure 8 .lumpy belly

Pufferpunk had a good article.. I was reading it the other day.. about the tummy lump that was seen later to be moving. I forget where it was on this forum, but correct me if I am wrong it was a tapeworm and seemed to never go away, but she got it though. TY btw for recording all of that..I don't th...

Re: New puffer mom here!

I am very excited for you! I wanted to start to teach my Puff a sort of sign language, that I'd make up. I made a particular hand gesture for snails, and another for blood worms. I made each as he was eating each type of food routeinly. I was hoping to see if he'd get more excited for one over the o...

Re: F8 Puffers Tankmates

Be careful!! Haha.. Some F8's love tankmates... mine did NOT! Examples: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1W9u3iIQt3lVacGvNviSeKEel4R9CuQkV/view?usp=sharing. <-- Look at Puff's face. It says it all. He's annoyed. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fqR_t7YKaBSK68tq6-ieM-qrTFsXPcgH/view?usp=sharing. <-- L...

Re: Brackish Tank & Skimmer Questions

I used to have a single F8 puffer in 75g, 15-19 ppt set up with tons of live rock, 79-80 degrees, a standard light (not able to support most plants), a HOB overflow, wet/dry filter (which I am learning is a nitrate factory and junk filtration), and an external reef octopus skimmer. I LOVED that skim...

Re: Is this normal?

OMG My Puff used to do this, too! Tail curled up. Mine though, he only and I mean ONLY did this when he felt bad or scared. I knew my fish, I swear to you I knew that fish so well ... In this photo, he's clearly upset about living in a brackish 40g with mollies: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8A5...

Re: Where does your puffer sleep?

My F8 Puff slept in his stump. He loved that stump!!! Here is a pic of him, looking out the window: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8A5qSnll6R2WXl5QXR0RVp6eG8/view?usp=sharing On Friday mornings he slept in, and always in his stump. He lived in my classroom in a 75g brackish alone, I teach marine ...

Re: Figure 8 Pufferfish questions.

My F8 Puff used to get his "puff pants" on after he ate... meaning is belly turned from bright white to mottled dark grey spots. I also called those his sleep pants, as that's what he'd put on when he was sleeping, which he often did after eating. My Puff when he was younger used to get a ...

Re: Setting Up a New Figure 8 Puffer Tank

I had a male figure 8.. he lived in a 75g brackish alone (I'm unsure what the SG was, but it was always around 15-19 ppt, well with Buddy the hermit crab (which he decided not to eat after a few months of meeting him). I may have overfed him over the years.. but I also have a 75g planted freshwater ...

Re: What's your puffer's name?

My Puff, well he recently passed.. his name - he was a verified boy who apparently had huge gonads - was Puff Puff McGuff. But he had many names... rough puff (when he was moody), full puff (after eating) - those two a play on pastry language - then also sometimes puff pants, puffington, puff daddy,...

Re: Hi everyone! I am sort of new here and my puffer is not doing well..

Hi! thank you for the compliment on my Puff! I thought it might have been a parasite due to his erratic patternistic swimming. He'd do this thing, where he'd look at a specific rock in the aquarium, like he was going to swim through it. Then he'd flip his tail, and seemingly itch the right side of h...

Hi everyone! I am sort of new here and my puffer is not doing well..

Hi everyone! I am from Florida! I kept, well, I still have, a figure 8 in a 75 gallon brackish .. (I typically just eyeball it, and use a refractometer at water changes but it's usually 1.8 to 2.0ppt)... he lives in there with a hermit crab named buddy. Upon first meeting Puff decided the hermit mig...
