Re: Quick Question About BB
Yes, even though I only had him for about a 3 weeks, I was already so attached to my puffer. I treated him with metro, and praz, which is what the vet recommended. I am assuming they were already too far along by the time I got him. I treated with all the correct doses, and he just couldn’t handle i...

Re: Quick Question About BB
Also, I am almost 100% positive it was intestinal worms. So wouldn’t it need a host in order to survive? My tank will have been empty for 1 month. So wouldn’t that cause the parasites to die, in case they survived being dried out.

Re: Quick Question About BB
Ok, probably should have went here first. I talked to the LFS where I got my puffer and they said by just rinsing everything off and letting it dry would kill the parasites. That’s what I did. I just wasn’t sure if BB could dry out or not. Probably a noob question lol.

Quick Question About BB
Hello! So recently my sick puffer passed away, I believe from some type of parasitic disease (He was treated for it). Anyways, I plan on getting another fish or puffer. I am going to reuse everything from before but I rinsed off all of the substrate, rocks, plants, and filter pad, as I didn't want a...

Best LFS near the St. Louis area?
Hello! There are many different fish stores here in the St. Louis area, but does anyone have a preference? Also if you live in STL and have a puffer, what store did you get it from? The only stores around here that I have found had puffer has been Petco. Thanks

Re: GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
Yes there was and obviously still is. I guess it was still too powerful. He can’t get near the filter as of right now. I haven’t been home yet and worried I might come home to something unfortunate.

Re: GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
More bad news. Last night he was sleeping next to the filter I assume, and he got sucked into the little filter intake. Not sure how as this hasn’t happened before. Lights are off to be less stressful and I have it to where he can’t get sucked into it again. He obviously can’t swim really much. Hopi...

Re: GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
A little update. The past two days he has not been eating, and his colors are darker than normal. His belly is not completely dark if that means anything. He also seems to always be hiding, or laying down in the aragonite. I have treated him with General Cure. Any ideas why this is happening? I chec...

Re: GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
Yes I will post pictures in a few. I ended up buying General Cure. I put the recommended amount in the tank, and then put some in his food. As that is what my LFS directed too. So far my Puffer has had great progress. He began eating again... a lot. No stringy white poo.

Re: GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
Another thing I did notice today that the puffer did not eat. He is pretty plump from yesterday's feeding, so could it just be that he is full? I do think it has some intestinal parasites, so I have to figure out what to do about that.

Re: GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
Herbtana is an all herbal medication. I also read on other forums that it is safe for puffers, as it does not include any harmful herbals or chemicals. The heat and salt method is how I am currently treating him on top of the herban. This morning I did wake up with him having a white string coming f...

GSP Tiny White Spots? Ick?
Hello! I recently got my new GSP from my local pet store, and upon arriving home and doing a more thorough check, I saw some tiny white specks. I initially was going to return him, but figured he would probably have a better chance with me, rather than my local chain pet store. I was talking to the ...

Which Acclimation Method Would You Prefer?
Hello! In the next couple of days I will be going to pick out my Figure 8 Puffer. Trying to be as prepared as I can be, I started looking into what way I should acclimate it. Should I drip acclimate it? Or should I leave it in the bag old school way and add water every 10 minutes? The one at the LFS...
