Re: Amazon Pufferfish Cloudy Eye

Just some extra info: 36 gallon bowfront planted tank, with six serpae tetras, a juvenile acara cichlid, and a couple sun loaches. None bare much aggression. I feed bloodworms, snails, mysis, flakes (more for the tetras and cichlid, though the puffers aren't afraid to nibble at them), and Repashy's ...

Amazon Pufferfish Cloudy Eye

Hello, It's been a while since my last post here. For about two and a half weeks my three Amazon puffers, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, have been in my 36g system. Prior to that, they were quarantined and treated with Prazipro, and I made sure each was healthy and eating. Yesterday, when feeding mysis to ...

Re: Baby crayfish having molting troubles!

I just came back from a trip to find the little guy in the same mess he was in when I left. I was sure he was dead, but he isn’t. Once again, he is too small to do anything to assist, but I really don’t want to lose him. He is a hybrid crayfish, so could that have to do with his molting problem?? An...

Baby crayfish having molting troubles!

Well, there seems to be an issue. Yesterday, while cleaning the tank for my baby crayfish that I found a couple weeks ago, I found him molting. At first I figured, “oh, I’ll finish cleaning in a bit”, but the next day, he is still stuck in his molt! I understand that this process can take a while, b...

Re: Puffer selection suggestion for 260 gal FOWLR tank

In that case, if the eels are small, I think you are fine to put a large enough puffer in there.

Re: Hello- New here and new to puffers

Yeah, puffers can be that way. I’ve had one pea puffer sweet as can be to his tankmates, and another that killed anyone I’d put with him.

Re: Puffer selection suggestion for 260 gal FOWLR tank

There are plenty to choose from, as long as you have no coral or inverts you are attached to. Also, whatever you do choose, please keep an eye on your morays, even ones as small as snowflake morays, as they’ve been known to catch and eat a curious puffer (and this won’t end well for either of them).

Re: Hello- New here and new to puffers

Hi! Glad to hear you’ve fallen for the puffers’ cute look and lovely personality! :D GSPs, like many puffers, have big appetites, and are very territorial. As far as I know, GSPs can thrive in brackish, but love marine just as much. My word of advice, be careful with tankmates. The puffer can either...

I’m considering a Yellowtail Damsel....yes or no?

So I have recently decided to jump into the realm of saltwater aquariums and am considering purchasing the fluval 13.5g aquarium. I’ve researched a stocking list, and the best “nano fish” to look into. In my research have been warned to steer clear of the damselfish, as they’re like saltwater cichli...

Re: Crayfish fighting or breeding?

As of now, I’d have to say it is about 1/4 inch. Any idea how fast it will grow?

Re: Crayfish fighting or breeding?

Update: Whelp, after moving around some rocks looking for the disappeared lobster, it turns out she did, indeed, breed and now has eggs. If those eggs will hatch is beyond me. I feel bad for the father, who was moved to a different tank where he unfortunately was devoured :? . But, I will definitely...

Re: Crayfish fighting or breeding?

Thanks! The problem about identifying the “swamp crayfish” is that it was a feeder lobster from petco, so is difficult to truly identify. For all I know it could be wild caught or cross-bred between masses of different species. Or it is a swamp crayfish, just not bred for color. I’d also assume it’s...

Re: Crayfish fighting or breeding?

Oh, sorry about the confusion. I only really know the basics for crayfish, so you’d probably be able to tell better. I couldn’t quite get a picture of their undersides but I hope these help in their identification. B22EE7CD-8510-46CC-87D4-B6F280F786BA.jpeg CB13A11C-C51A-42A1-A0B3-AD1493CC5A6B.jpeg T...

Re: Crayfish fighting or breeding?

Thanks for the helpful information! I think based on the pictures that they were trying to mate, and although I assumed this, I didn’t want to risk anything at the time. Though I’m keeping them separate, at least I know I can put them back together at some point, in the event that the cichlids try t...
