Re: Hard foods for SAPs (besides snails) + other questions

Hmm... I looked at the Chinatowns near me and the only small seafoods I was able to find was cockles (live!). They seem pretty big for SAPs though. Do you think a 1-1.5 inch cockle is edible for these puffers? Im on my phone- so hopefully this message goes through. But in general- if you were to ju...

Re: Hard foods for SAPs (besides snails) + other questions

Thats correct- often times Asian market is your best bet. I lived in Asia for many years- it is popular to find crabs (the size of your finger) who have tiny legs that make a good meal. It is important to give a wide variety. When I get the frozen krill from my LFS, I soak it in Vitamins- Boyds Vita...

Re: New Pao Turgidus

If someone dropped me in a bin of water- I wouldn't be so happy... What will the final tank look like? because right now it is a glass tank with algae. Definitely thin. Poor thing. Hello livebearer Yeah she looked like that when I got her yesterday. I felt like something is not right with my puffer...

Re: Dwarf Puffer Aquascape Paradise

Where are you from? Difficult to read when things are only spelled phonetically, etc. I have a puffer in a planted aquascape- ensure your cave is removable as detritus will certainly pile up in there- puffers are messy eaters and that filter will push it around until it finds a stopping point (like ...

Re: New to the site- long time planted tank fish keeper

Thank you! Im here for my puffy George so I can make his life better. I fell in love with a high maintenance pet- not the first nor the last time (im sure). So I want to bring him the same pleasure he brings me :)

Re: Hard foods for SAPs (besides snails) + other questions

I feed my guy: Morning is snails or any other hard food: I use ghost shrimp, fresh shrimp tails, very small crab legs, small 'cockles' (clams) Evening is usually a multitude of things- but usually softer: frozen krill, live injured baby fry, fresh steamed salmon/fresh steamed fish (my dinner usually...

Re: Amazon Puffer- OK behavior????

Did you read Neale's article? (the article posted earlier in this thread?) Yes I did. There is so much information that contradicts itself on the internet involving puffers. No wonder people dont know how to properly care for them. Trust that I will do anything in my power to ensure that George is ...

Re: Amazon Puffer- OK behavior????

Its about time for an update: I have been feeding George less- he is much more active and swims around quite a bit now. He still seems bored, so I am trying to get him a friend or two. Just seems hard to find SAP here- so I will have to more than likely order online (which I hate to do with such spe...

Re: Amazon Puffer- OK behavior????

LOL, no I missed that! I was thinking this was a 10g office tank. Please consider keeping a shoal of them together in the larger tank. Just be aware you will have to catch each one for regular dentistry. Rarely, can they be fed enough snails to avoid this in captivity. I am not afraid of trimming t...
