Re: New Porcupine Puffer Won't Eat!

Update: Gave him some live worms, and he snatched them up! A couple of days later I put a large raw shell on shrimp on a clip in the aquarium and he demolished it!

Re: New Porcupine Puffer Won't Eat!

I don't add the bacteria any more! :)
Ill do that! Do you think he just needs to 'starve' long enough that he will take anything?

You tried garlic?
Does it appear he may have lockjaw?
Tried garlic and he still wont go after it unfortunately.
Definitely not lockjaw either, he can open and shut his mouth well.
Is it possible he's still just getting used to his new home? I did only get him a week ago.

Re: New Porcupine Puffer Won't Eat!

https://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/library/feeding/problems-feeding-your-puffer/ I've read that multiple times and have tried all of that! Unfortunately nothing has really worked. I gave him some peas soaked in vitamins, and he ate that for a few days, but now he won't even eat those. Thing is, w...

Re: Curing Ich: RTR's Salt & Heat Method

I have a porcupine puffer that I suspect has ich. Would I have to add more salt to his aquarium, or just raise the temperature and do water changes? Thanks!

New Porcupine Puffer Won't Eat!

Just recently set up a nice 90 gallon aquarium to get my dream fish, a porcupine puffer! He's about 4" long and his name is Toby. I only got Toby a few days ago, but he hasn't eaten since then. I've tried clams, frozen shrimp... but then I tried a piece of freeze dried krill, and of course he gobble...

Re: GSP's keep dying on me?

Ahh okay, that makes sense. You see, everyone in stores and online said just use the bacteria. Now I feel just awful for the poor guys. I also wish I found this forum when I was cycling my tank because of the information on here.. I just purchased more bacteria, and I'll be adding an ammonia source....

Re: GSP's keep dying on me?

ANY nitrite at all is toxic! A cycled tank would show none. How EXACTLY have you cycled this tank? Read all the Qs above, to see if you've missed anything. Tank has been up for over a month. When I first got the tank I used the beneficial bacteria you can get in bottles to start the cycle. Didn't g...

GSP's keep dying on me?

Hello all! I'm new to the puffer forums, and this will be my first post! I have a puzzling thing going on here... I have (had) one juvenile green spotted puffer in a 20 gallon aquarium (until they grow to about 4" in low low end brackish water ( 1.004 ). The temperature is at 80°F and the PH is at a...
