Re: T. Abei strange spot on back

Update- The wound looks as though it is healing well. It is still a white patch, but I think that is just a lower layer of skin or flesh. I have been medicating daily with melafix, and doing partial water changes regularly. Thanks for the advice guys. If it regresses at all I will be sure to update ...

Re: T. Abei strange spot on back

I did not get a heater guard yet. The place I have to get it at is about 45 minutes away, but my friend works there and I am going to have him grab me one on Thursday. For now, I moved the heater to an area where he cannot rest on it. It was originally in the bottom corner laying parallel to the san...

Re: T. Abei strange spot on back

You know, now I don't know if it is getting better or worse. The little circle has filled in completely white, and the dangling skin is gone. I do not know if that is new skin regenerating or the start of an infection.

Re: T. Abei strange spot on back

No other tank mates. I never even considered a heater burn. I will bury it down for now, and next time I go to the reptile shop I will pick up a heater cage. It does look just like a burn and he does like to wedge under it. Any tips on treating? I am going to halt anti-biotic use and use a little Me...

Abei? Sorry about the poor quality pictures. There is a darker patch of skin on his dorsal side wit...

Re: Abei ?

That picture was taken the day I got it, and it was in a bare aquarium for a few hours. The colors have gotten more intense since I got him. I will try to get a few more recent pictures during the next couple of days.

Re: Ich in brackish?

Yes, usually I do quarantine. Gah, the only reason why I didn't this time is because I was worried about aggression in the q-t tank. So if I understand this right, I should still add the aquarium salt to this brackish tank? Or will the ich die off once it drops off the fish(aided by the raising temp...

Ich in brackish?

I added 2 new fish to my brackish tank yesterday, and today they look like they have ich. Question is, they were in freshwater when I bought them, and I acclimated them over 4 hours into the brackish(1.008). If it were FW Ich from the store, wouldn't it have been killed off in the brackish water? Si...

Re: Stressed or burns

So last night I re-acclimated the mollys to my freshwater community. Today puffy is out and about, his stress colors are gone. Very cool. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Stressed or burns

Hmm. I wonder if that is why he is acting shy lately. I guess I am going to have to acclimate the mollys back into freshwater to see if he perks up again.

Stressed or burns

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f176/ToyotaRKeener/DSC00019-2.jpg If you notice, there is a black border that is underneath his green, and above his white. It spends alot of his time sitting against the heater. Could these be burns or are they stress related? Don't mind the algae on the back wall...

Re: Ideal parameters for Abei?

Yeah, I was actually thinking of blending some leftover calcite from my GSP tank into the sand of my Abei tank. If I put in a good amount of Calcite, and did several small water changes throughout the week instead of a larger one 1x a week there should be no drastic pH swing. The water should sit at...
