What did we do wrong? - porc puffer

Hello I had a porcupine puffer for over 3 years in our tank and I can’t figure out why I woke up this morning and he was gone ): if anyone has any insight that would be appreciated. We plan to completely redo and cycle the tank before getting another porc puffer so I want to make sure we learn our l...

Re: Vertical swimming puffer?! Please help!!

His belly was still white. He was swimming vertically with his head towards the bottom of the tank. He was doing that all day. He also looked like he was trying to burp/throw up. Also my boyfriend went to burp him and he didn’t seemed phased in the least bit that he was being netted (under water) to...

Vertical swimming puffer?! Please help!!

Hey All Some of you helped me last week with my fish's fin and so I went out and got some antibiotics to help him, per suggestion. However, before I could treat him for that, he started acting weird. First, he was sleeping all day (since we got him, he has been asleep during the day and wakes up aro...

Oh don’t worry! That is definitely the plan! We were just doing research on how to do it in the same area his current tank is in (he gets a view of everything and is protected from getting bumped into) without stressing him out. (:

Re: Fin rot? Ich? Accident Prone Puffer?? Please help!

No tank mates. We use a sump pump. We are working on getting the nitrate down doing more than one water change this week. It doesn’t appear fuzzy in person from what I can tell. But there are some other white marks on his fin near it and on his other fin. But no where else. I believe it is about 10 ...

Fin rot? Ich? Accident Prone Puffer?? Please help!

Hello I have a young porcupine puffer fish, named Squirt, who has a hole in one of his fins. I am not sure if this is some version of fin rot, a bad case of ich or if my pufferfish injured himself. Either way, I would like your opinions on what you believe it to be as well as the best way to treat h...

Re: Overfeeding Puffers

Out of curiosity, what does every feed their puffers and how much? I have a younger porcupine puffer. Maybe only two inches. And I feed him every other day and use frozen shrimp. Very small amounts. One piece of “human” shrimp lasts him for weeks. However, he does still seem to get very lazy after e...

Yellow spots on puffers back

Has anyone ever seen a bright yellow spot on the back of a porcupine puffer? I just noticed it today. It looks like it is kind of under his spike to the point where it’s kind of lifted off his body (but not pointed all the way out. More like how they lift off a bit on the stomach when full). I don’t...
