Re: Colomesus Psittacus ( Banded Puffer ) Anyone have any experience keeping one that they would like to share?

In all honesty, I expect to get a misidentified SAP puffer. Got one of these guys being shipped to me this week. From the few people I have been able to get in touch with that has kept them they never got to their maximum size of 10"-12". One guy maxed out at just under 9 inches and the ot...

Looking for advice on what to do with a stunted Fahaka puffer.

Let me just start off by saying I'm far from a noob at keeping puffers. I purchased my fahaka back in the spring. He came in about 3 inches and hasn't grown a bit since then even with feeding 3 times a day(different foods for each feeding). Also have soaked his food in vitamins. I always deworm my p...

Anyone know of a place or person online that has any bigger fahaka puffers for sale?

I have exhausted all the places I know to look and I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere that may not show up on your standard search(I.e. Dans fish) that possibly might have large puffers. Or has a decent selection of puffer in general im always looking for new suppliers.. Not looking for full ...

Re: New Guy with a Schoutedeni Puffer

I kept my Schoutedeni with just about anything and he did fine. One thing I will tell you to look out for is the silvertip tetra's fin nipping him. They are feisty little things and I had to pull them out of his tank.

Re: Hmmm...

Aren't they a brackish fish? Yea and everything I have been able to find out about they can stay at a pretty low level of salinity for most if not al of there life. Mine is just in quarantine in freshwater. Once my Archerfish get here this week I will be quarantining/medding then move them all to t...

Re: Hmmm...

Just heard back from Wes, he says: " For sure psittacus. They can live in pure freshwater for a long time" I got one from him last week. Hands down has been one of the coolest I have ever kept. Hasn't shown any aggression other than running a curious Siamese algae eater away from his food...

They are really easy to breed. I did it a few years ago and I'm not good with breeding anything other than snails. I would bet money some of the ones up for sale on eBay are tank raised.

Re: palustris and cutcutia puffers in route

So some bad news. The Cutctuia decided to go carpet surfing on me. Never had a puffer jump out on me before even in my open top tanks. what's worse is my custom made lids are latched down and he managed to jump out of a corner cutout that is 2x2 that has the filter pipe and heater cord running throu...

Re: Amazon Puffer Teeth

I would look at getting a bigger tank. I had 5 SAP plus a couple of oddballs set up in a 55g with an auto water changer hooked up to it at one point. I couldn't imagine having 3 in a 20g for both the waste and swimming space. They would swim against the current all day in a 55 using the full length.

How do you like the Cutcutia puffers? If wetspot still has them listed when the put up the new list today I think I'm gonna grab me one. They seem pretty aggressive?

Re: New Amazon Puffer - skimming glass and won’’t eat :/

It took some of mine a few weeks to start eating when I first got them in and I ordered a group of 6 at the time. For the most part, they will never stop pacing the glass from my experience and I would look at investing a powerhead. But he should chill out a bit after he gets used to things. I would...
