Re: MBU Puffer belly up

thanks pufferpunk for all your help. I just came across Filbert's story. very sorry to hear. Did you bury him too? I guess saying goodbyes is just a natural part of the hobby. I kept many different fish but his passing hit me the hardest. Puffers can show emotions quite well and they recognize you. ...

Re: MBU Puffer belly up

I hope he is now in a better place. Not suffering anymore.
I just buried him wrapped in a white cloth with his snacks next to an old tree. Put a nice stone on his grave.

The tank is now so empty. I already miss him :(

Re: MBU Puffer belly up

I think it is time... to say goodbye :( Going to put him to sleep with some clove oil. So he does not have to suffer anymore. I hope he is not angry because I could not save him. He was a friend that brought so much joy. Going to bury him with some of his favorite frozen snails and clams. So he has ...

Re: MBU another problem... sunken eyes.

I found out that sunken eyes might be a symptom of fish tuberculosis. Apparently some Koi are very susceptible to fish tuberculosis.
Anybody dealt with fish tuberculosis??

Re: Very sick mbu.

It is usually used in intensive care units in hospitals when a patient contracts a multi resistant infection. That is like the atom...

Re: MBU another problem... sunken eyes.

I tried some worms, mussels, mussels without shell, with and without garlic. Had to feed him a mussel smoothie every 3 days. He does not eat. He does poop and I can see some dark stuff on the bottom of the tank. Fortunately the nematodes are gone. I couldn't find a single one this morning in the sam...

Re: MBU Puffer belly up

I found something weird in his poop today. Red nematods and some round creatures. All worms are dead and not moving. I found only one single moving round bacteria (?).
Maybe someone can help with ID?

Re: Very sick mbu.

btw flubendazole is not water soluble if I remember correctly from class. So you have to get it "in" him somehow. Just mixing it with the tank water would be ineffective. I would take a little syringe and flexible tubing and force feed a flubenol suspension. (what I did) Good luck, hope he...

Re: Very sick mbu.

Parasite no effect in 24hours what are you using for parasites? Acriflavin is only used for external issues on the skin like fin rot, fungus etc., checked it again. It works really slow http://www.pharmawiki.ch/wiki/index.php?wiki=Acriflavin I would get a different medication since it is clearly in...

Re: MBU Puffer belly up

His anus is still open. Do I have to do something or is that part of the progress?

Edit: It is not over yet. Just rechecked his poop and there are still a few dead nematodes. Found three.. we are getting there.

Re: Very sick mbu.

i would also dim the light a bit if you have a controller. the one pic where he is floating on the top the light is close to his eyes and he might look directly into it. This could really stress him out.
Sick fish tend to relax more in darker tanks.
