Re: Will my dwarf puffers eat their tank mate?

I personally seem to have found that DPs are the only puffers that don't need dental maintenance, but the odds say they are going to harass/kill that snail.

May I ask you (and Kupo, and Lobo) where you folks had success in finding these guys?

Re: DP eating habits

Mine did. Sometimes they would actually eat them up, but more than half the time they would slurp them down and leave the husks. A good side to the snail size issue is that you can (or I have, at least) enjoy a few adults producing tiny live food and cleaning up the tank at the same time. Except the...

Re: Looking to get a slightly larger FW friend...

All right, slightly different question. I am trying to keep some notes, but thought I saw somewhere that one or more species like to tear up plants, and a couple will go right through plants to get to food and I can't remember which. I'm a real planted tank guy - who should I watch out for in that r...

Re: New dwarf puffer won't eat

When I got my three puffers, two were dead set against eating, well, anything at first. I freaked out a bit, then let them fast, then used an eyedropper and thawed bloodworms. They were real suckers for slightly squeezing out bloodworms, releasing the bit (so they'd go back in), and repeating. It se...

Re: Pao abei, aka T. abei, aka Abe's Puffer

I have. There's very very little I've found in terms of basic behavior patterns, personal experiences and what not. Perhaps my searching has sucked (I've gotten something like 1700 posts when doing a search for 'abei', and gone through maybe the first 30-40 pages?). Any directions being pointed at w...

Pao abei, aka T. abei, aka Abe's Puffer

Hey all. I'm considering getting an abei, but the info out there is pretty bare-bones. Does anyone have one? What are their habits and personalities like? What substrate do they prefer? I read one report of them shredding plants (for puffer fun?), and am wondering if that's true... Basically, any pe...

Re: Looking to get a slightly larger FW friend...

So pretty, too. What a nice pattern. A mild-mannered active FW puffer. Wow! Has there ever (back in the pre-Congo Civil War days, even) been successful breeding of them? Are there any reports recently? I've got the obvious question, asked now only because older threads are, well, older. Any sense as...

I forgot to say hello!

Hey, all! I posted a question before introducing myself - how rude! I'm fairly new to puffers - I had three happy DPs in a BioOrb for several years (until an unhappy moving accident :( ). I'm getting back in, planning a 20L at work and using the 39H at home as well. I'm probably inclined towards FW ...
