Update: i came home from class yesterday and the sap who had gotten stuck but got out was lifeless, with most of its tail missing. I am down to 2 saps from 4. I am definetly considering just keeping them in the smaller 40g tank now thats its just the 2 of them. I might see if i can find a 3rd so the...

i raised the intake tube up off of the impeller plate and the AC70 is now at trickle speed, i really just wanted it to seed with bacteria. Boo. More bad news was i went to order filters for the 90g display and not only were the eheim 2217's out of stock at drsfostersmith but the 101.99 sale they wer...

Its a sad day here for me. The 4 saps i bought were doing wonderful. Still in the 15g, still plenty of waterchanges. I fed them well last night as they only had a few snails to pick from the previous 3 days. All were happy and healthy last night and this morning and up until about an hour or s...

Well, what i did was get them home and float them the bag in my 10g dp tank and then started adding my tank water slowly to their bag. From there i proceeded to add 5 gallons of tap water @ roughly 76-78 degrees (PRIME added ofcourse) to the 15g. From there I siphoned 5g from the DP tank and added t...

My temporary SAP tank situation

Alrighty people, i just couldn't resist. Our dining room is almost done having its new hardwood flooring installed. From there i will be setting up a 90g seaclear tank in the room. I have posted a few posts months ago detailing my plans for a 90g SAP tank. Reguardless, i stopped by the fish store cl...

i was just concerned because the 20g tall seems rather high for the footprint, and seems to me to be top heavy.

update: the 20g sat for 3 days with no leaking so i decided to set it up tonight. it is now up and cycling. My coralife freshwater aqualight arrives tomorow. I am a bit concerned about the stand however. It appears to be an all-glass MDF stand(or fiberboard) with a black lacquor finish and gold hand...

Soooo....as soon as i am done leak testing the 20g, i'll get the cycle started. Until then i am goi...

you can try oto's but even then there is no guarentee(i thoiught everything was peachy keen till last night where i found an oto mangled to death).

Otos are probably the best option. You could try shrimp as well but they may become food.

i feel kinda bad. the breeder box is kinda small. its like the little plastic hang ons that the fishstores use to put fish in to bag, but it has slats on the bottom to allow water in and out. I put a big clump of java moss in and some snails. kinda like this but it has holes/slats in it. http://www....

this 10g has become a temp tank, while i am in the process of setting up a 90g low-tech tank(south american theme) so the otos will be moving to a very large tank somewhere near february 1st i'd reckon. the 20g high will be my first high-tech tank with pressurized co2 and EI dosing, etc etc. I got a...

i have one of those hang on the tank breeder boxes. I just feel it would be kinda cruel to house her in that for the next week or so while the new tank cycles.

just kinda want to get them out asap. I didnt realize the puffer would turn so violent so quickly(almost night and day). Most people said a year or so to mature, Mine was super tiny when i purchased it in september. And its the only one in the tank so i didnt think there would be territorial issues ...
