Re: Looking to get a slightly larger FW friend...

My Schoutedeni doesn't bother my plants unless they accidentally get it when he's grabbing a snail on one of them.

Wish I had experience to help you with your other species questions but this guy is my first puffer.

Re: Looking to get a slightly larger FW friend...

Agree with all of the Schoutedeni comments above. They seem to be a nice activity level - not spazzy swimming all the time but not a lump. They seem to be deliberate hunters, love exploring all plants for food.

Very interactive!

Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni

Wet Spot JUST had them. You can get on a list to be called when they get them again. They also update their stock list online every Friday.

Re: New dwarf puffer won't eat

Sorry to derail but I feed frozen (not freeze dried) krill once per week. Is that a problem? I am a new puffer owner and don't want to screw things up. I thought variety was good and he loves the krill! Edit: So I can actually be helpful to the OP - try to find some live blackworms. I bet he will no...

Re: How much is too much? Feeding Q

Thanks! I am feeding snails, frozen bloodworms, live blackworms, and frozen krill. I was looking into trying clams also.

He's happier with daily feedings for sure. ;)

I have fed a few assassin and trumpet snails but I crush them first for him. Ramshorn/pond are much better.

Re: info puffer fish

I use liquid fertilizer and root tabs in my tanks. I use Seachem Flourish which is a general liquid fertilizer. It doesn't bother anyone.

Re: How much is too much? Feeding Q

I think it's good for all fish to fast 1-2 days per week, but I don't have any experience with DPs, so take that with a grain of salt. ;)

Re: Tetraodon Schoutedeni

I just wanted to update this a little bit - s/he has been doing well in the 20. I added some cories and there have been zero issues. They even eat bloodworms in a little group together. So I would say that if you want to try this fish with some others, cories are probably a good choice. He also igno...

Re: Mad/lonely puff

Actually, if you densely plant the tank (not sparsely, and include floating plants - they're great) and don't have much of a bioload, you don't have to worry about the cycle too much. The plants sort of help you instant cycle, especially with tiny tanks and tiny fish. If you have any media from your...

You're ignoring our questions if all of these fish are in the same 45 gallon long. I think that means yes. :(

Thanks! He is a cutie. :)

I've read a lot about overfeeding puffers so just wanted to be sure I wasn't doing that. Maybe I was going too far in he other direction...
