Re: New Figure 8 setup

Miles, I am by no means an expert, but I've kept 2 F8s alive and growing with no signs of stress for 8 months now. They are in a 36 gallon with 4 bumblebee gobies. All tank mates are happy and the growth and coloration I've seen improve in both species since purchase (and acclimation to 1.004 sg bra...

"Freshwater" Snowflake Moray Eel and F8s?

Greetings. I was at the pet store picking up bladder snails (can't keep a colony going...) for my F8 tank when I saw the mislabeled "FW" snowflake moray eel. I know it isn't truly FW, everything seems to indicate brackish to full marine. But I am curious if they are compatible with F8s at ...

Re: Feeding routine

While on this topic, I have heard that for F8s, krill with the shell on is enough to wear down their beaks, has anyone else found that to be true? I still feed mine snails, but keeping the snails going is proving to be tough at times...

Re: Feeding rouine

Kudos, I'm sure others will chime in, but I have always been more concerned with the look of the stomach than exactly which day I feed them. If they have plump little guts sticking out, you should wait for it to go down, but if it is flat by the next day, I have also been following the guidline of f...

Re: Please help! Is this a nematode on my F8?

Thanks. I will feed less frequently and less quantity. He just came to me fat like that, I thought maybe he was just genetically "big boned" (I know they don't have rib cages). Anyway, as stated, thank you for the replies, they have helped me calm down, and will hopefully save my fish from...

Re: Please help! Is this a nematode on my F8?

So today the lumps or bulges are in completely different places. It certainly looks like there is some type of worm under his skin. Just wondering, if it is a nematode moving around and feeding, how long does my little guy have, typically, before these nematodes do him in? I wish I vould cut them ou...

Re: F8 and Water Flow

My juvenile F8 actually does swim into the filter current sometimes and face "upstream." As stated, I think these fish are all different and have different needs. I don't plan on adding a powerhead, but he does seem to enjoy some occasional exercise.

Re: Please help! Is this a nematode on my F8?

Thanks, Pufferpunk. I appreciate the quick reply! I've read all of your articles I can find relevant to brackish puffers and appreciate the help as a newbie. He has always had the "club" shape moreso than the streamlined look I see a lot of on the internet. I wonder if he just has a unique...

Please help! Is this a nematode on my F8?

Hello forum. I have what I have previously believed to be a very happy and healthy Figure 8. Are these bulges on his left side his stomach/intestines from over feeding or is this a nematode infestation? They look like stringy lumps, as if it could either be his intestines pushing against his skin or...
