Re: 12' Fahaka Tooth trimming- I am so scared I will accidentally hurt him

I’m in Sacramento! I’d be happy to help you! Too bad I didn’t know you were here a few months ago when I sent my ms222 to my friend in Washington! I think we have some at Aqua life though and I’ll get back to you later! Oh wow that would be amazing. I am such a newbie at this! It would be great to ...

Re: 12' Fahaka Tooth trimming- I am so scared I will accidentally hurt him

Hi, Sorry I missed this yesterday! Not to worry--I have done dentistry on a fahaka this size. I used clove oil. I am very surprised that with the great crunchy diet you offer, this is an issue at all. This article will help: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_2/cav2i1/puffer_dentistry/puffer2.htm...

Re: 12' Fahaka Tooth trimming- I am so scared I will accidentally hurt him

At least I found a brave friend willing to help. Most others are scared also! If buying a puff that will get large please consider some day maybe having to do this, that's why I posted here rather than in "sick fish". I really hustled to keep his teeth down, including all these snail and m...

12' Fahaka Tooth trimming- I am so scared I will accidentally hurt him

Please, I need advice and maybe reassurance? I have hustled to provide Ollie with super crunchy food for three years now, including elaborately quarantined small live redclaw crabs every few days, having a snail breeding farm (three big tanks), five crawdad breeding tanks, feeding him clams, etc etc...

New baby dragon puffer

Hi to the group! I still have my three big Fahaka puffers and with all your help, they are doing well - Ollie is now about a foot long in a 300 gallon tank :o after two years. Love them! A week ago I adopted a juvenile dragon/ humpback puffer, "Cartman" (named after the southpark character...

Re: My palembang/dragon/humpback puffers

Thanks for all the info! I hope your puffs are doing well. They are beautiful. I have three large Fahaka puffers who are doing great (Ollie is now a foot long, in a 300 gallon tank) but just adopted my first dragon puffer, so am new to their ways. Mine is a juvenile, about an inch long, and such an ...

Re: Potential fahaka tank - ?s

Hey, Yoimbrian, did you get the Fahaka? or end up going for something else?
And, Pufferpunk, thanks for directing to the Fahaka facebook page, I asked to join. Much appreciated. I never seem to overload on information about these big guys.

Re: RIP Filbert ='{

Ah I just saw this. Tears in my eyes reading it. I am so sorry. Filbert's life and your amazing experience with him over those 19 years not only brought both of you joy but has taught the rest of us SO much about Fahaka care. Thank you very, very much for sharing your journey with him until the end.

Re: upgrading Ollie to 300 gallon tank!

Thanks- sorry hadn't logged in here for awhile- I did move preconditioned filter media from my other tanks into the two big cannister filters, added Fluval cycle bio-booster weekly and waited a month with the guppies and plants cycling the tank until all parameters were just right. I used the carib ...

Re: Hey all from MN

Oh my goodness I just saw the photos of "Jack the potato puffer" - SO unusual and cute! did not know this type of puffer existed! :D I am not from MN but I do have a ten inch Fahaka, Ollie, LOVE him (or her) and yes, I am also always hunting for and trying to mega-breed snails. Expensive t...

Advice on supermarket clams and mussels

Ollie (Fahaka Puffer) is now around ten inches long and living happily in his 300 gallon tank. I feed him everything recommended and always freeze then thaw the fresh live clams and mussels from the seafood counter at our supermarket before feeding them to him. My question is: do these items that ar...

Re: Fahaka Tank Mates??

My three Fahaka have always lived with guppies that I had in their tanks as a "clean-up crew". The guppies breed so I do not know if some are being eaten, and fortunately I am not individually attached to them. They eat up the little bits of snail, clam, mussel and prawn that the puffers s...

upgrading Ollie to 300 gallon tank!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to check in and say hi from a fellow Fahaka fan. My Ollie is in a 180 gallon and a few weeks ago we set up a 300 gallon for him. It is cycling with guppies and plants for the past few weeks. Ollie has grown to about nine inches in the first year I have had him. He seems ha...

Re: Juvenile Fahaka puffer - new, just saying hi

Ollie has grown SO quickly! About 7 inches long now. I set up his 180 gallon tank and am conditioning it now. He needs more swimming room than his current 110 gal. My buddy, I am still wrapped around his little fin!
