GSP Injury

Hi guys I wonder if anyone can help. I have two GSP that I rescued in 2016 from a guy who was keeping them in a 2 gallon tank on his bedside cupboard! I have had them 3 years in .005 brackish, water parameters are good with a weekly 1/3 water change. They are both very healthy with good colour and n...

Absolutely, always defrosted, drained and rinsed.

Re: Feeding routine

Thanks for that, sounds a good approach. I don't often feed blood worm now but was thinking the cubes are quite big in comparison to the cockle I feed, I might break them in half and feed over two days instead of all at once. I might even make a very small portion of bloodworm the treat on non food ...

Re: Feeding routine

Thanks for that, They still have a slightly round tummy 24 hours after feeding, they certainly don't look thin and they have only been fed every other day for several months now, I assume the pet shop did too (as that is what they told both the last owner and me to do) so it is probably all they kno...

Feeding routine

Hi, Can I check.. When I rescued my two GSP the pet shop had told the last owner to feed them one cube of blood worm every other day, which is what he did. When I went back to the same shop and bought frozen shell-on foods I was told the same, "Alternate the food and feed every other day.", again th...

Happy Puffers eating a squid treat video

Thanks for all the advice on here, thought you might like to see the little fellas tucking into a squid lunch, don't worry I did not let them eat too much. First time I tried them on Squid and I think they like it :) I like to suspend their food in the tank like this. They are very happy in the new ...

Tank setup - substrate advice

Hi all, So I kind of rescued 2 GSP who were living in an un-cycled 10L freshwater tank being fed frozen bloodworm cubes (dropped in frozen), no heater & no airline. Even so, I had no experience with Puffers or brackish tanks and did not really know what I had let myself in for, but have done my rese...

Re: Help needed = accidental GSP owner

I should also say they did not even have a heater in that small tank, just room temperature, so under 20c I went to the same fish shop he bought the GSP from yesterday to get more information and they told me about the beaks, I already knew about that from my research, they sold me a bag of frozen (...

Re: Help needed = accidental GSP owner

Thanks for the links BTW, it sounds like it might not be so difficult to start a new life of a brackish tank for the little guys.

Re: Help needed = accidental GSP owner

Thanks for that, I have got them out of that tiny tank and into my 60L tank which is well cycled, while not huge it's OK for now, I'm just concerned how long they can tolerate freshwater and how to get them into brackish.

Help needed = accidental GSP owner

Guys, First post and I really need some help and advice. A friend was moving house and asked if I could take his fish, he has only had them a few weeks, I agreed and have now discovered what I agreed to! He had two GSP in a small 12" square tank and they looked really nice, as far as I understand th...
