I would not call any fish a female if I did not see both (1) dramatic weight losses regularly (development and dropping of eggs) and (2) actually seeing eggs.

size is the one thing I forgot and yes I do think males get larger than females it is the males that hit the 18+ inches not females

I don't let his stomach Get to grossly big and now that he is good and active and eating real nice I bring my puffers at this stage from daily feedings to everyother day or every every 3 days but no longer daily feedings
