Re: New guy from illinois

Funny story. Apparently when you posted my crawdads decided to go all carnivore and decided to eat my high fun banded shark that was chilling till spring. Always sucks have a $30 fish get eaten. :/ So the crawdads are permanently accompanying my snails in my 10 gallon snail tank. :/ no puffers were ...

Re: New guy from illinois

That crayfish will probably kill your puffers, you should move it. I actually have white and a red crawfish in there. They don't seem to mind the fish (even when I had tropical ones in there before). They are lazy I guess. Never seen them really even try to catch a fish. I had a blue one before tha...

Re: New guy from illinois

Just twigged you are planning on adding loads more. Not a good idea, you are pretty much stocked with what you have. Not lots more. I have a total of 20 in there now. Also update the tank to drift wood, 3 Amazon plants, 2 lilies and a bunch of fern. As well to support the live plants I added a glob...

Re: New guy from illinois

Where in IL? I just moved to SC from Chgo. Luckily not Chicago! Lol I'm south by Peoria in Galesburg. It's about 3 hours to Chicago from me. Lucky you, you have some amazing aquariums in the area to get livestock and supplies. There's a small store in town where I am however the bigger stores with ...

New guy from illinois

Got my dwarf puffers last week. Have absolutely fallen for these little fellas. I purchased 14 for my 60 gallon aquarium. I had a bunch of other tropical fish in there and have since found homes for them. I keep trying to locate 14 of them but have only found 10. I'm hoping my other 4 didn't fall vi...

Re: New to DP's (not to tanks) advice

Found homes for everything. So have a dwarf tank set up now.

After a lighting upgrade I'll look into live plants.

Re: New to DP's (not to tanks) advice

I think that you should move all of the other fish currently in the tank and just have puffers and bottom feeder(s). Instead of multiple cories, I would suggest a medium-sized pleco like an opal spot or angelicus for cleanup. Lastly, you probably shouldn't put more than 15 or 20 puffers. 25 would w...

New to DP's (not to tanks) advice

Hello everyone. I've been eyeballing the dwarf puffers for a year or so and decided to convert my community tank to a puffer tank. Yay for fresh water only! I have a 60 gallon tank with a marineland 350 bio wheel filter (runs with 4 "c" filters installed). I found homes for my 2 large ange...
